Stadium of light concerts 2023

The SOL is the best suited stadium in the north east given the extra space it has around it. Helps the production crews get in with lorries , cranes etc and has access tunnels in the north and south stands
It also empties relatively quickly…..when they built that footbridge it will improve things further

Agree with the first bit, not too sure I agree with that. The Metro is absolutely carnage after every event with queues for hours usually. It's a nightmare to get to with public transport. I'm not saying other NE venues are any better mind, Boro is in the middle of nowhere but compared to other stadiums around the world it's not great.

I’ve been to gigs at Arsenal and Milton Keynes this year and both were actually worse getting back after the gig,

I think only Wembley can really deal with getting people home quicker

Surprised with Arsenal with Finsbury Park being nearby, mind it's a bit of a tight station. Milton Keynes not at all, another stadium in the middle of nowhere.

Wembley is class though, 15 minutes to the centre of London pretty much.

Last time I went to Wembley it took 4 hours to get out of the coach park

That’s more to do with the shocking metro service tbf. It’s a problem on the north bound line at st.peters……the rest of the area clears quickly

Thanks  the new trains meet NWR crashworthiness standards so the frequency of services should be able to increase, which should help. If, of course, they decide to exploit that.

Let’s hope so, also maybe the drivers might not coincide future industrial action suspiciously the same evening of gigs at the SOL as well

Remember this

We criticize our infrastructure but I’ve just been to Wembley on Sunday night and after patiently waiting for an hour on Wembley Way we were informed that there were no more trains that evening and tens of thousands of people including families with children were stranded with no way of getting away from the ground .
People were paying over a ton for Ubers and waiting for hours for night buses .
We finally managed to get to our digs around 5 hours after the concert ended which apparently was quite good .Thanks TFL

I've been to a number of gigs at Wembley, the London Stadium, and then this summer Spurs' ground, and all have been bedlam getting the tube afterwards.

At least with Sunderland you have the town centre on the doorstep. Wembley and Tottenham are absolute dumps for getting a post-gig pint.

Coldplay have confirmed their european dates for 2023, the tour isnt visiting sunderland.
Shame.

The show they did do at the SoL was absolutely unreal.

Rain was horrific mind.
I'd gan and see swifty like
Same. I could sell it to the lads that the missus loves her (she does) so I've got to go with her, when actually I think her stuffs mint.

Ignoring her pop stuff which is great, I thought folklore was a brilliant album

Going to reply together otherwise I'll be parroting. Surprised at that, last time I seen a gig at Wembley we were back in about 20 minutes, admit we did use the Chiltern Mainline to Marylebone though instead of the tube. Feel for you on Sunday, I'm sure there would've been some friendly faces with TFL especially since that gig had already been moved from the Friday because of TFL.

Tottenham and Wembley are shit holes mind, especially Tottenham, the walk from Seven Sisters is a proper trek and a half, not an ideal place either tbf.
