The Hundred 2022 Match Thread

Just flicking thru tv and they have Chris Hughes (no idea who he is) interviewing Dr Ranj who is going on about hospitality. Is this really where cricket is going???

"Line in the sand moment for English cricket" - quote from Eoin Morgan last night following Smeed's century and in light of him becoming the first natural 16.4 star to be born.

This man is shameless and a poison to English cricket. He is effectively selling the demise of test cricket and first-class cricket in favour of franchise globetrotters like the greedy little arsehole he is.

England's 2019 World Cup win is fast becoming redundant to me due to it's association with this whore.
Englands World Cup win was a great moment in history in a never forgotten game.

It should never be forgotten whoever the captain was, Morgan never won the World Cup the team did.

If anything that win was due to the partnership between Stokes and Buttler and nowt to do with Morgan

Agree with you, the moment and game will never be forgotten. It has had no positive impact on English cricket however, and the man who captained that side is a huge driving force in now devaluing the 50 over game.

Following the 2005 Ashes series, England games moved away from free to air TV and therefore a generation of potential new fans were left behind after a series which attracted waves of new interest in the test team.

Following the World Cup win, we devalued the 50 over game at it's highest interest rate in England. The ECB are to blame for both events but by god Morgan is a crass mouthpiece for moving the game away from it's traditional and popular roots at an alarmingly quick rate.

The cynic in me can't help thinking that he's a bit of a self-preservationist, and wants to be remembered as the only England captain to win the 50 over World Cup. Add in that he was/is a mediocre first-class cricketer with a diluted interest in that form of the game but the reality is that he's always chased the dollar and is happy to promote others following his lead.

He likes power and a platform and is using it to the detriment of the first class game.

This is on BBC2 , I didn’t realise. Followed by the ladies match

that works out about 6 or 7 hours today. about the length of a test day
