👀 Tim Martin’s wallet.

Stuck a few shares into my set when the pandemic flattened them - thinking budget pubs would bounce back first as everyone was skint. Hey Ho, now maybe things will get worse and Greene KIng or someone else switched on will try to buy them out and the shares soar before being gone. Gains on big energy companies balanced it out at least.

Reaping what he sowed.

The difference for this raging bellend is that this is pocket money to him, others that have shot themselves in the foot can and will have in some cases, crippled themselves by listening to rich wankers like him.
They're blaming Wetherspoons for Covid now
Brought some lovely old buildings into use with some sympathetic renovations. Sells canny British Ales (and some foreign ones) at a very reasonable price, and usually has at least 1 brewed locally to the pub. Not that fussed on his food, ower "plastic" for my liking, but cant really argue with vfm.

All other pub chain bosses must be perfect I presume
He voted Brexit mate.
The Remoaner loons now want him destroyed. A sad bunch.

He’s a man complaining about the rising cost of living, after vehemently supporting Brexit and ending freedom of movement despite the benefits that had clearly given him for years. Yes, I do think he’s very much part of the problem. Layer on how he treated staff during the pandemic, and he’s the sort of self serving parasite that needs to be gone from modern business.

It’s still possible to have sympathy for the thousands of who are potentially out of work, these things aren’t mutually exclusive.
Covid hammering the world economy, British workforce paid not to work for months, global gas and oil issues, war in Europe - cost of living/inflation increases.
Remoaners "duurrrrr, look what the bReXiT did"
No he does not. He pays his staff and THEY pay millions in taxes. Annoys the hell out of me when employers boast about how much tax they contribute when its actually coming out of their employees wages.
What planet are you living on.

Whetherspoons generates £800million in tax per year. 0.1% of all tax in Britain. PAYE and national insurance account for about £100 million of that.

Also the way he treated suppliers by not paying them or delaying payments to them during the height of covid it particularly hit the small micro breweries.

Regardless of their stance on leave or remain, anyone who turns their back on hardworking people at the first chance of saving a few quid is a scab in my eyes. I know plenty of the pit generation who voted leave and would whole-heartedly agree with that sentiment too.
It's all rather disingenuous from Remoaners.
Like other businesses, Whetherspoons was shut during the pandemic, and like other places was unable to pay staff, and relied on the furlough scheme. At the same time supermarkets were desperate for staff and paying good wages, and Tim Martin told staff if they thought it was right for them they should hold no qualms and go for it.
"If you’re offered a job… if you think it’s a good idea, do it." Nobody was told to leave, or even encouraged to leave, they were told to do what was best for themselves.

However, because the bloke voted Brexit, he must be destroyed, and Remoaners now pretend this was an evil act. Lunacy.

Why would anybody he happy that a UK business is having problems? The bitterness and ignorance on this forum at times is staggering.
This-people staying at home, cost of living biting, people's livelihoods under threat, all jolly japes and a cause for celebration, by the op. What a miserable muppet!

He never pays small breweries the going rate for their beers which is why he can afford to sell them so cheap. He doesn't help the small breweries whatsoever.

He is such a man of principle too that when he refused to sell beers from EU countries as a protest over Brexit, he refused to stop selling Stella as it was one of his biggest sellers.

Tim Martin is a cock end.

Rather end up somewhere I want to be in 50 yrs than be on an endless journey mate.

Makes the usuals look even more stupid and bitter .
Great read .
Where will you be in 50 years 😂. Suspect this push it down the line attitude is really a way of never ever having to take responsibility for the ridiculous idea of voting to leave the EU and massive issues it has brought and will undoubtedly bring in future . And all you’ve got is to blame the sensible intelligent people of this country that voted to remain .

This has nowt to do with brexit -imagine being this embittered, lunacy!

Imagine working for him atm being worries about your job. And people are laughing. Strange place this at times.
They’d get another job no problem, hospitality industry crying out for staff due to fuckwits voting for Brexit.
Owa ya heed.... normal people will feel the blunt of this and schmucks like you are owa the moon because ya lost a vote and want to say a told ya so, by celebrating the possible loss of income/jobs many working class will endure makes you look like a tory
Imagine getting offended by examples of project fear coming true and trying to flip the guilt

What is the going rate?

The small brewery stuff is generally real ale, I think in city centres it’s between £2.50 and £3.00.

They sell punk ipa (not a small brewery I know) for about £3.50, brewdog sell it for about £5.50.

If he can but it from them and still make his margin, why do they need a 57% uplift in cost? The fact they’ve brewed the beer themselves means the uplift will be even higher.

They have over the years championed small breweries, providing a platform for them to make a name for themselves, and have done so since a time when ale was unfashionable and wasn't found in the majority of bars.

He switched European drinks such as prosecco etc for English equivalents etc to boost British businesses. The man is scum!
They did keep Stella though.

Having loads of pubs means you can generate a similar profit despite paying as much, if not more, for the product.

His wallet has my £78.40 refund from the Wembley High Street pub on the day of the Play Off final. They eventually sent me (this week) £80 of Spoons vouchers, cudnt be arsed to keep arguing with them which I’m sure they’ll have done to everyone.
