My ‘argument’ was just a reply to someone saying it’s better standard than some performances they’ve watched the SAFC mens team put in. Which isn’t true

You’re right it’s impossible to know if this womens team are as good as even northern league level mens players.

See, that’s not what they said at all. There was no mention of “standard”

“After all the shite I've sat through at the SOL, I'd rather have an impressive performance like that rammed down my throat”

I have been watching womens football for around 12 years when Jill Scott was playing for Sunderland. Its massively improved and maybe the amount of abuse its getting is a good sign as the resident knuckledraggers are being highlighted.

Is Serena Williams a 'shite' tennis player because she would struggle to beat some very low ranking male players and would never have won a single slam v the men? No she isn't, she is an absolute legend of tennis so why do we judge female football players by the level of the male game?

These are the very best female players from across Europe and that's the very definition of elite sport. Its irrelevant how it compares to the mens game as men are not allowed to play in it.

Performance.

There’s never been as bad a performance as this one by the SAFC mens team. Because the standard they play at means they’d lose 50-0 if they did.

There not but if you don't compare and just take it for what it is its doesn't matter. I use to watch those home nations under 16 year old games, it would have been foolish to base any analysis or comparison to the senior blokes game.
 
You know what I do when there's sport on the tele that I don't want to watch, I turn it over to something else.

I think F1 is shite, but I don't feel the need to start a thread on here and claim it's being rammed down my throat. I just don't watch it.

It's out of the box thinking but it's worth considering.

Don’t watch it then if it’s not for you? Nobody is putting a gun to your head and making you watch the BBC. It’s 2022 and there are a billion other things you can watch if you want to 🤷🏻‍♀️

They are better than Northern league level womens players though. That's why they are playing for their country in a major tournament which virtually no Northern league level mens players ever will......

That's why these women are 'elite' and Northern league level mens players are not.

Think tennis has been well served by always broadcasting men and women’s tennis side by side.

Women and men’s football are different sports but no less different than lightweight and heavyweight boxing. Lightweight boxing fewer knockouts and women’s tennis fewer aces but the players aren’t judged as inferior , just different.
