Women’s Euros 2022

It’s a major tournament being held in this country in a summer where there’s no World Cup. Fills the tv schedules between Wimbledon and start of the domestic football season.

Well, given it’s currently the European Championships that’s probably why. I’m not a huge fan of womens football, I think the quality in general is abysmal, but to call it a ‘minority sport’ and acting as if it’s a huge deal is a bit strong. You can turn over you know.
Probably more diplomatic than I put it.

I have no issue with it being on, it is their euro championships at the end of the day. I wouldn’t personally choose to watch it as the womens football I’ve seen hasn’t been of a very good standard).

What I do find weird now though (and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t always like this) on the sky TV guide, and on sky sports news etc, the fixtures/scores have no mention of the fact it’s a womens game. For example On the planner today it says

MOTD Live: Austria v Northern Ireland

Eilidh Barbour introduces live action from st Mary’s stadium as Austria faces Northern Ireland in Group A.

Now if I didn’t know any better that reads as though it’s a mens fixture, no mention of the fact it’s womens. I just find that weird tbh, and we all know the motives behind it.
