England v India 5th Test, Edgbaston (1st July) Match Thread

It’s hard to believe this is basically the same personnel that have been an embarrassment for 18 month. We’re now hammering the best in style.
It is absolutely astonishing like. I’ve always believed we had the talent and ability to do something like this, and the players were far better than they appeared or what the results suggested, but this has even astounded me.

To think it’s pretty much just as a result of changing the captain and coach, and their influence on the mindset, is amazing.

The approach h to batting under this current leadership is tremendous. I know it can all change, and we'd probably be slagging the bowlers if the shoe was on the other foot, but it's great to watch.
England have got three tremendous batsmen in the middle of the pack, Root, Bairstow and Stokes. I'm not surre it would work as well without those,

What’s more, even the best of all, Root, has improved. He was imperious with the bat even when under the pump as captain but he’s now added two final innings tons in chases for victory that he hadnt had in any of his previous 20 odd centuries.

I wish the Ashes were this summer
