Energy Prices - are they taking the piss???

any ideas how you would even go about checking stuff like that to find the source of the leak?
Should be a phone number on your water bill to report a leak. Obviously check everything in the house first like. I had a big water bill before and realised I hadn't turned the outside tap off properly so it had been dripping for months.

i've got hayfever and drying outside has never even crossed my mind as being a problem.

Lucky you. As the fabric dries it sucks in the pollen making it pretty bad to sleep in air dried beddings for a starter let alone wear the clothing. For me drying outside is a no-no.

Not energy related but water .....
just received my latest water bill and they reckon I’ve used double the amount of water the last six months compared to the prior six months 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Putting my DD up 40% to cover the increased cost / water usage...
How can you possibly use double the amount of water ? It’s hardly seasonal like G & E 🤷‍♂️

Have you got a hot tub now? If not then a leak?

Up to £6 per kwh to NOT use power during peak?

That would fund batteries that you would charge during the lowest cost times at about 25p/kwh, and use them during this peak time

So they are saying, I’m guessing that high end will be few and far between but even if it’s half that it’d be worth considering.

My water usage has supposedly gone up from 452 liters per day to 528 litres per day.

Just spoken to them and I’ve been out on the street reading the meter for them.

Didn’t get off to a good start when the house they had me down as living at I last lived in 15 years ago 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The meter reading I’ve given them is nowhere near the reading they have and she can see it’s Ben going along steady for years then the last six months it’s shot up.

When I said there’s no chance anyone has read this meter recently as I’ve just had to put my arm through spiders webs and dust dirt of the panel to see the numbers she said it’s all done by Bluetooth by the person doing the reading, it’s not a manual reading as such ... Nice to see the technology works well ffs 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

To be fair the lass I spoke to was great. She’s sending someone out to do a manual reading in next few days. Meanwhile I have to pick an hour, switch water off at mains and not use any water to see if the dial moves at all as if it does it indicates there is a leak somewhere.

Sounds like someone has been making up readings. The Bluetooth thing sounds like a lie, unless it's very new!

Hopefully you're due a good refund!

So last night my card stopped working rang sse up i now have a smart credit meter, so what kind of bill am i expecting? p.s dont know my account number as always been pre pay, looking forward to finding out my account number tho as can shop around for deals... But in this current climate i expect them all to be same

Filled up the car/SUV today from near empty - cost nearly £120 in diesel.

Used car prices are also starting to decline.

Add this to gas, electric, food, everything hikes - not to mention burning mountains of cash and military resources to a war Ukraine cannot win and we have the perfect recipe for economic disaster looming.

Winter is coming.

with Eon for gas and elec i am currently paying £264 / month

new deal fixed for 1 year is £499/month- so practically double.

however, EON offer a flexible tariff with no contract where prices can go up or down depending on wholesale prices for £345/ month.

surely i would be crackers not to take the flexi deal and jump to a fixed if wholesale prices started to rocket.

it has to be worth the gamble over 12 months ???

Prices are predicted to rise 50% in October, reviewed again in January.
