Rightmove Voyeurism

Not exactly in the spirit of the thread but was just spying on rightmove property prices for my street and found next door paid £13k more than us for their kip the absolute dafties (they’re identical new build semis bought within a couple of month of each other)

The only time I saw a house with warning tape over the plumbing and electrics, it had been repossessed. Would fit with the no chain part.
Deffo, put an offer in one one of these which was about £80k under asking price, was accepted but had to be advertised for a number of days. Somebody went daft and put in the asking which scuppered my plans.

We eventually moved into ours after 8 month of solicitor / developer squabbles, next door gone up for sale for £95k more than we paid and had canny few viewings already 😳

I wouldn’t complain as it drives the average price up so when it comes to you selling, your house will be worth more.

The one we looked at as a very good price, and a big nice place too. But it was on a main roan and the house next door had 5 boy racer cars parked outside. In the time we were looking round, there must have been a dozen more cars pulled up there for a short while then went, with exhaust blaring out. This was in the middle of the day on a Saturday. Everything screamed out nightmare at night with young lads and noisy cars, possibly dealing.

We walked away.

All down to timing. Same happened to me on a new build. 2 identical houses in a cul-de-sac. I paid £220K in the February, neighbour opposite paid £264k in the April.

They were in first like, they moved in in the January we moved in March last year

We snapped ours up quick like and couldn’t pick any extras ourselves as it was all built and finished, the people who had reserved our house first were furloughed and their mortgage fell through so we were moved in within about 10 weeks from the day we enquired and reserved, so maybes that was a factor

I would be wounded if I was them next door like, I felt like I was having my eyes took out at the time but you just get swept up in the process.
