Cost of food items rocketing

Ukraine are a massive exporter of various foodstuff. Russia export quite a bit of wheat also iirc. The price of oil and gas also effects the price of importing, refining and distributing food. It's had a massive impact.
Of course it has, a blind man on a galloping horse can see it. Well then again, some people wear blinkers.

We haven't done a 'big shop' for about 4 weeks now, we're just buying as we need it. I've got to admit that I've been guilty of buying stuff in then buying other stuff on top of it because I didn't fancy what was in. The majority could probably really do with applying some simple economics.

All this just means more own brand stuff. Less takeaways. Barely ever buy stuff not on offer.

the prices started ramping up a year before Russia Invaded?

High gas, oil and various grain/oil prices having a big impact on manufacturing intensive food production and distribution shocker eh?!

There's also been massive supply chain issues on the back of various lockdowns all ower the world mate.

Exactly, Who’d have thought it? I would never have guessed it was that.

Haven't mentioned the covid money we were in record debt pre covid.
Regardless, a lot of it is wasted and a lot is put to good use.

What Would you suggest, the gov spend less and make more cuts, or spend more raising the debt?
How does not having debt stop prices going up caused by the Ukraine invasion? These price rises aren't just in this country.
It is causing worldwide massive trouble and increases. Some can’t seem to accept it though for whatever reason.

I reckon this will be sustained for another year easy. By that time we will be climatized to it. No way will prices of anything go back to what they where.

Only way is stop buying the overpriced stuff, they will need to drop prices to stay competitive eventually. Out of principle I’m getting rid of bills like sky etc where I know they are taking the piss with their rises
