Boycott Qatar

Bet I get blasted if I don’t do the match threads
Watching the Qatar World Cup is almost as bad as those Mags who defend their Saudi overlords.
Also you might get a lot more blasts if you DO post the World Cup threads!
I'm sure if you boycotted each match on a daily basis, then you would get a lot more respect (& likes)

The hypocrisy argument really is stupid. It seems the people who make it are more worried about hypocrisy than the actual issue

It’s almost like some people are absolutely thick as fuck

I shall boycott this World Cup for sure as I don’t have no interest in supporting murderous regimes. In fact any Sunderland fan ( myself included ) would look like a right hypocrite if I watch it after slati g the mags and their Saudi regime which is just the same bar name.

Good to see in this country that more sports personalities are brave enough to admit being gay, yet the next World Cup is being played in a country where you could be executed for being gay. Anyone supporting this World Cup should be ashamed of themselves.

I just think it’s great that all the knee booer lads have suddenly discovered their inner wokeness and are now fervent supporters of protests to strive for further equality. Not hypocritical in the slightest. It’s to be applauded.

All a farce really. England team keep taking the knee and Southgate constantly talks about it... Yet they're happily chasing the £££, and off to showcase Qatar.... Hypocrites
England won’t be taking the knee in Qatar Obviously, the FA feel Qatar have done enough to tackle modern-day slavery, human rights abuses and inequality.

A tax driver whose cab I was in recently was telling me about how his cousin went from Sri Lanka to work there on the world cup construction. He immediately had his passport taken, was stuck in a dorm with loads of other lads in the same situation, given food and water and sent to work every day until their "contract" was up when he was one of the lucky ones to get back home, alive.
Slavery happening before our eyes and we've got the likes of uber-socialist Gary Neville sipping his gratis wine over there whilst eulogising about what a great country and world cup its going to be. Sickening.

what’s the line on this then? I’ve settled personally on watching it but only illegally pirating it to not contribute to the viewing figures. I’ll buy nothing to do with it officially (I still usually do the sticker books, I know I know, but not this time), and I usually get some of the kits which I won’t this time. Also making a point that whenever it is discussed being a broken record about raising the crimes of Qatar and making everyone aware that it’s a sportswashing exercise.

I call it the take take take and no give model. What do people think?

I'm really torn. I usually love the world cup and will want to see how England do whilst not wanting to support the hosting of it.

Instances of Racism in British football was being reduced year on year and the U.K. tackled it better than our European neighbours. Then the woke left decided we needed to import this from the US.
1 million football fans watch footy every week in this country- how many instances of racism was there? There’s millions of fans on Twitter, a few racist nuggets type something vile and millions of good fans are tarred with the same brush.
Campaigns like Show racism the red card had reduced instances of racism massively, before the woke left came along pleading that we all required re-education. Say it for what it is- just an attack on their most hated demographic- working class, white, footy fans- the left despise them.

The spineless eulogising in the studios about how wonderful and welcoming Qatar has been to all the corporate suits is going to be nauseating. Luckily the horrendous standard of punditry in the UK means that can be the very first thing cut from my viewing time.

Morning all!

Had an interesting chat with some mates last night about a potential fan led boycott of Qatar 2022. Writing this really just to gauge people’s opinions and to see if there would ever be sufficient support for it to be a realistic option.

The horrific human right abuses of workers getting the stadiums ready in time for the tournament are well documented and in many cases amounted to modern day slavery. Many lost their lives.

Could we collectively say enough is enough and ask the question to what depths is society willing to sink in order to promote the game we all love? These questions won’t be asked loudly at the top with so much money involved. What a huge statement it would make if broadcasters and sponsors were boycotted during the games. Something that could potentially trigger similar movements in areas other than football where corruption and human right abuses are rife.

I’d imagine for most, not watching England in a major tournament is unthinkable. Would an option be for one match to be boycotted? Something everyone could get on board with to send a strong message. Or at the very least show the families of those who died building the stadiums that there are people on the other side of the world who give a shit.

Like I said this isn’t a call to arms. Just a way of gaging opinion. If it is generally positive there’s no reason other forums can’t be contacted to see if something meaningful can be put together. With OTIB leading the way!

Have a good football less weekend. We all needed a break!

Said it in other threads. I'm boycotting it. Overheard some nags (not a mistake) discussing their takeover and stating Sunderland supporters' hypocrisy. On the contrary I'm shocked by the hypocrisy of Newcastle Labour Party, Newcastle based media, Newcastle Pride supporters.
