Forthcoming gigs.

City hall question..... I’m off to the city hall tonight in Newcastle, which I’ve heard is all seats.... to see The Divine Comedy. I’m not usually one for sitting down at gigs, is it acceptable to just stand all the way through?

By the 2nd song, most people were standing at the Gary Numan gig last week.

I think the only place it's forbidden is front row on the balcony.

Tricky one. It will depend on a number of factors. It doesn't look to have sold particularly well. It depends on those around you really. If there is someone behind you who objects to you standing, you'll probably be told to sit down. There look to be quite a few empty areas in the stalls so maybe I'd move to somewhere that you don't obstruct anyone's view who wants, quite reasonably, to sit down in their seat and be able to see. Play it by ear.

City hall is the O2 now right?
They can remove or install seating iirc unless I'm confusing the venue, only been a handful of times

Yeah went to see Florence and the machine last month it was standing. It'll say on the ticket stalls standing like if it's a standing gig. Lovely old building mind.

It generally depends on the type of act. I recall the days at the City Hall when for certain bands, seat numbers were irrelevant. When they came on everyone piled to the front. Good if you had a crap ticket because you could then move up a dozen rows.

Aye I was seated for public service broadcasting but dancing like a loon for Dara o brien

You would have a row and a seat number if there were seats
