F1 2022

Hamilton could be disqualified from every race if he doesnt take his nose piercing out at Monaco. Pre scrutiny before P1 will ban him exiting his garage. This also applies to others with jewellery and will be checking for the right underwear on.
I don't care if it does feel like they're targetting Lewis. If their H&S legal team tell them "If you don't enforce this rule, and someone gets hurt - they can sue you", then they have to follow the rules.

Also, just follow the rules anyway. That's why they are rules. Cough*Masi*Cough.

It seems petty but, as you say, it’s H&S, same rules for all, just that Lewis is the only one to wear one.

Sainz had the measure of Le Clerc last year, surprised so far this year that he’s not been closer (yet).
Must be a pressure thing. I’m very surprised too, but even when he isn’t crashing, his race pace is just nowhere to be see. Something like 17s off Charles when the SC was deployed wasn’t he?

I don’t even think it’s petty tbh. It’s common sense. If a driver has a crash and needs an urgent MRI, they couldn’t do that without removing piercings. There was another case of some American series where some driver was in a crash and his engine was ablaze and the heat literally welded his chain necklace into his skin that he needed surgically removing. And that’s not to mention the problems with impacts causing rings to rip fingers off, etc.. The more you think about it, the more you question why it’s been allowed in the first place.

That’s a very good point.

The sport really isn't helping itself with the ridiculous over the top hype it's giving to events that frankly don't deserve it, especially after last season left so many long term fans (or are we legacy fans now?) feeling immensely cynical about the direction the sport is going.
I was trying to avoid having a rant about Sky but you've set me off now 😁

I put the free practice on for a bit on Friday but turned it off after one too many ridiculous exaggerations from the commentators.

Tedious cobblers for hour after bloody hour

Showing off flying in a helicopter, flying in one isn’t that big a deal.

he's had the rough end of the luck so far, but its possible that he's now over compensating. a third place might relax him a bit and allow him to show everyone his true pace, although as the leading Spanish driver the pressure may be up one or two degrees in Barcelona next time out.

wedding rings are exempt apparently... k-mag goes against the SMB and the blokes with rings thread.
I don't see any point in fighting the jewellery issue.

Just take it out

There's a strong argument for simply eliminating all distractions and focusing on the racing car
brundle made a decent point that to step into one of these cars, the drivers have weighed up some life or death concerns and that jewellery isn't even on the list of considerations. i didnt know that Gasly was quite religious, and takes a number of religious artefacts in the car with him (what they are it didn't say, cross on a chain or something?).

I usually respect Brundle and his opinion but he's wrang on that.

The one area of a racing driver which is a wee bit exposed in a fire is his conk anaaarl.

Having that piece of metal seared into the flesh...ooof.

Then some poor surgeon has to disfigure you further taking it out !

The problem is the tyres. Russell only had a drop off of 4 tenths over his full stint on the hards, not enough to really create any strategy option. You seen how Lewis barely caught Russell up once moving to new hards, for instance, and even Perez barely made a dint into the Ferraris on the new mediums. Without the tyre delta it’s going to be hard to overtake at poor tracks regardless of the following.

I think you’re being premature with writing others out of the title race. Mercedes still have time to come back into it, especially the constructors side, and there’s still 18 races left. Problem for me is that I can’t stand le clere as much as I can’t stand max, so it’s a no win situation at the front regardless. And the drivers I do like, sainz and Perez, are nowhere to be seen
What don't you like about LeClerc? Think he's canny me

He did a piece a couple of years ago where he basically said that the order of “safety” is fans first then drivers last because it’s their choice to step in the car knowing the risk they take.
