A quick browse on Marty's twitter feed suggests he tripped over a curb edge and banged his face and head quite badly. The level of chat is noticeably poorer today.

I’ve got to laugh, I had a bit of bad news last week and this past week has been dreadful quite frankly, so to save me from doing something really stupid, I’ll just keep laughing.

I genuinely believed we could challenge for the title coming into the season, but after taking only 2 wickets in an entire day against Leicestershire and now losing 6 inside a session against these mugs - we’ll be lucky to scrape a top half finish.

Oh and on top of that, I bet we don’t even get Ben Stokes for a single game.


Have yourself a few minutes to think about that, the kid (Petersen) has had five innings, he’d only been in the country 16 hours before his first, batted better in the second and yes, he has struggled since - but it really is far too early to be wetting the bed about a bloke who played a massive part in a series win against India just a few months ago.

It was a cracking signing on paper, he has to improve, but to call him ‘f*cking shite’ is a massive overreaction.

To be fair, you have to take your share of the blame for not starting the match thread.

Came across this comment on the latest Facebook status from the club (the lunch update):

Yet agen a shocking performance,only Dickson coming out with any credit at all.How can you turn up to the team bottom of the league,who have been thrashed by an inning's last 2 games,have had to get 2 loan players in as there that depleted and go from 60 for 1 to 76 for 6 !!! Somethink in the club just aint right,why arnt we ever hearing from the head coach,players performed excellently in the 50 over competition last year when Franklin abandoned ship to go to the 100 leaving Alan Walker and Gidman todo a brilliant job getting us to the final,has franklin done anythink in his time here to justify his position,if he canit even speak to the media,god knows what hes like with the players,big questions need asked and answered as this simply aint good enuff

Spelling aside :p, I note from last weeks match thread that a few posters think that there are certainly questions that need answering. Whilst I’m not yet thinking there’s a crisis on, the early warning signs are there that something just isn’t right :o

I had thought that a new ‘captain’ was in order given the lack of success in the first three games. Fair play to @wayne entwhistle no9 for stepping up, but perhaps next game someone else might bring us better luck 🤦‍♂️

Definitely worth a debate I reckon, I’m not quite there yet with the cynicism but I’m on the way. The season hasn’t gone as well as I thought it would up to this point - probably worth a ‘quarter term report’ come the conclusion of this one, which I suspect will come earlier than Sunday evening.
