Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

I had warmed to Keane returning but now given the choice between Keane and Neil I would opt for Neil.

Keane is out of date. He was crap at Ipswich and not well liked in his assistant roles. You would not want a surgeon operating on you if they had not been a surgeon for a decade, or a pilot flying your plane if they had not flown for years.

I doubt anyone would want Reid back but he was effective in his day. Out of work managers get left behind after a while. We might have dodged a bullet with Keane.

Without sounding fickle I think I agree, I was absolutely all for Keane but when you sit back and think about it Neil is much less of a risk and seeing what the Preston and Norwich fans have said about him has solidified that. By the time him and the team are used to each other and he’s stamped his style on them we could be on prime position to ride into the play offs bang in form. You never know🤞

Nice of the club to keep the supporters informed.

Even a ‘just to let you scumbags know, we’ve appointed the bloke from Norwich so stop crying about Keane’

That’s the thing. There is usually one team who gets into the play offs on the crest of a wave. That could be us this year with the new manager bounce and players coming back - O’Nien, McGeady and Broadhead! KTF

I’m starting to warm to this idea.

we could chant to the tune of America - horse with no name

Sunderland going up with a boss with no name,
It feels good to be winning again,
In Sunderland, we don’t even know his name,
But we’ll all bounce around and sing it again,
La la la la la la la

You’ve proof he has great man management skills.

I’ve not criticised him personally or written him off and never questioned your commitments so not sure why the pop?
I am not having a pop at you personally mate but the meldown on here is awful and I hope he gets a fair crack with us.

I haven't got any actual proof of his man management skills but from what I have been told he will get us playing good football again and will instill confidence in the young lads again

The pressure will definitely be on but this would have been the case with any manager we appointed. I know AN doesn’t exactly get people exited but I think he can do a job here. I suppose we’ll all just have to wait, see and go into the end of the season with ne fingernails.

We can't blame AN one bit if we don't go up, we have fcuked up automatically by pissing around with the appointment, I know we will never know, but I bet peperation would of been much better if AN had been appointed a few days before the Doncaster game, 6 points better off ? I like AN coaching methods , let's hope this gets us on a good run 🙏

Absolutely. If we don’t go up he should get at least one full season (and two transfer windows) at it.

He’s taking over a team now that’s at rock bottom confidence-wise, has two (maybe even one?!) fit senior centre halves and a management structure that’s proven itself to be an absolute circus.

Welcome Alex. I wish you all the luck you’re going to need.
