I'm not livid, like I was with both the Parkinson and Lee Johnson appointments.
Alex Neil has a CV and track record that suggests he's more than capable of getting us promoted with a decent brand of football.
However, Speakman is about to employ the fella and has already placed him on the back foot with the fans, by the ineptitude he's shown during this whole manager search process.
All this bull about Keane and "will he, won't he" lifted fans hopes, spirits and expectations, thinking/assuming he was the number one target and going to come. Only to have the rug pulled from under their feet, with an far less inspiring appointment.
That's so unfair on Alex Neil I know, as... should Speakman have done his job properly from the outset and appointed Neil straight away without any fuss, the fan base would have been quite comfortable accepting with him and give him their full backing.
Now he has to win over sections of fans in the wake of the Keane fiasco and try to make them forget Keane was ever in the frame.
I sincerely hope Speakman has learned something valuable from this whole affair, as next time he needs to up his game or simply f*ck off out of our club.
I wish Alex Neil plenty luck (he's gonna need tons of it) and hope he can turn our slump around to move in the right direction.
We're are just rotting away in this rancid league.
