Not Roy Keane

I’m struggling to envisage demands that would be unthinkable to be honest, given who he is and the position we’re in. It was up to the club to get it done. The club failed.

Still, Kristjaan “I used to run Birmingham u14s y’knar” Speakman got his yes man in the end. Let’s hope we strike lucky.
There are other managers tbh. You’re getting carried away thinking we should accept everything he’s asked for without question. Caveat this with obviously we don’t know what’s actually gone on, we are just speculating.

We as fans did

Track record ...not being funny but 15 years ago is a long time in football and he didn’t exactly have us playing like Brazil when he walked out. Like a lot better of our managers in that era he over paid for some very average quality

Are you denying we paid big name managers crazy salaries to work for us and we nearly went bankrupt?

So much for his claim he would manage us in non league, not fantasy just reality.
1/ We as fans are not the official club mate. The club did not Laud him

2/ So getting us to the Premier League is not enough then. We have to play like Brazil?

3/ We as a club did spend stupid money but not massively when he was in charge. Other numpties were responsible for that.

4/ He probably would manage us in whatever league, but not with the cocks in charge now putting stupid f***ing hurdles in the way, which must be what happened otherwise we'd be selling Keano scarves in the shop.

Yes, that’s pretty much exactly what I’m suggesting we should have done. That’s exactly right.

We are a club that’s staring down the barrel of a fifth year in League One, led by a kid owner and a “Sporting Director” that’s wholly unqualified and unsuitable for the job. He’s Roy Keane.

He’s Roy Keane but he’s still a relative novice as a manager.

Really? I will give you a few
1. Salary
2. His assistants salary
3. Contract length
4 bonus for promotions
5. Allowed to do media work
6. Transfer budget if promoted
7. Final decision on transfers

He had all this last time

All of which may relate to reality of being a 3rd division club.

If he expected to be bankrolled to promotion it wasn’t going to happen
If he was motivated by money, or wasn’t interested in “the hassle”, he wouldn’t have turned up for the interview.

I don’t think you read the post, his ego was caressed, only when reality sets in does that start to wear off.

Not bad for a novice mate, bottom of Championship to Premier in half a season.
Kept us there.
Whats he going to be like when he knows what hes doing then?
Not denying any of that. Still a novice though. He’d kind of be re-learning his trade as a manager here.

Yeah - it was within the clubs gift to meet his requests on any and all of those things.

The club chose not to.

And here we are.

All pretty dull, all Johnson's.
No other manager would have lifted the supporters and the profile
of the club like Keane.

Weve seen how its gone with process and the salesman talk, interviews.

IMO Keane has shook his head, 'not for me these no marks'.

Possibly. The club certainly don’t come out of any of this well at all.

If you really want out of this shitty league, and want to be back up there at the big league, with the supposed money KLDs mommy will give him as extra pocket money, with a manager that has not only done it before, he did it with US before, what is contentious about any of the 7 things you have listed?

There are no words mate.

You don’t know that last point. It would be good to know mind if the ownership /club leadership was an issue mind

... and he spent a bloody fortune for the times....

Keane has always wanted things done right, done professionally. Maybe he looked at it and thought not a chance, because from the outside it looks a shambles
Possibly this and maybe also the closer he got to it and after talking at length to the club, and perhaps after watching the games this week (who knows), he might have realised he didn’t want to return to football management as much as he thought he did.

That’s not a slur against anyone, but the likelihood now is he won’t go on to have a career as a manager. And maybe he’s discovered through all this he’s quite content with that.

He did not overspend.
And even you must admit that the way we have gone about this as a club has been farcical. With his professionalism, that everyone who has worked with him will attest to, our amateurism was probably enough to make him think "fuck that"

It don’t work like mate unless you are a billionaires play thing and even then it can nearly put you out of business. We need a club built on a sustainable basis.
Then there are financial rules which you would think were almost deliberately put in place to stop us.
