Alex Neil - New head coach confirmed

He simply doesn't have the charisma or presence that Keane does. Keane would galvanise the club and fans, Neil strikes me as another Grayson, career on a downward trajectory.
He's nowt like Grayson tbf. Neil is still a young manager who is quite highly thought of at the clubs he's managed.

I get the disappointment of Keano not coming but we need to move on and move on quickly. Neil on the face of things seems a reasonable appointment

Here we go again. It all comes down to presence. Personality. Charisma. Surely a dull manager who takes us up is better than an exciting one that doesn’t.

It is a mark of a Sunderland supporter that they are happy languishing in League One providing he excites them.

They are raging blaming everyone, fellow fans for "settling for no marks", the club, the owner, speakman, when will they realise, their blue eyed boy turned us down......................

He didn't want it that much and clearly isn't desperate to get into management
Have you been asleep the last four years?

Not sure what your trust in the ownership is based on.

No, we will be the pet rehab project for some no mark lower league manager that no one cares about instead.
As soon as Neil or whoever it is gets the job, I and tens of thousands more of us will automatically very much care.

You mentioned that SAFC was Keane’s pet rehab project. Not me. I have no idea if this is true. And I suspect you don’t either.

I also don’t know whether Alex Neil was sitting on his sofa last night thinking how Sunderland might be his pet rehab project. I suspect not. My guess is he might have been thinking I’m a decent football manager and I’d like to manage a great football club and be a success.

It could be Neil or indeed anyone, but whoever it is I’ll be praying they are a success.

Do you, hand on heart, think he will be?

It’s such an obvious chuckle brothers choice, coming on the back of Methen showing up at the match, but people seem to have forgiven them.
Nee-ones forgiven them mate, you not seen the threads about Madrox, protests etc

I was skeptical but if you read what Preston fans, including via RR are saying about Neil he does sound like a good fit tbh.

I never said I trusted them, they gave you what you wanted though......

They offered it to Keane, he didn't want it enough and turned it down.

You wouldn't be raging if he'd accepted

It’s all just people trying to cope. Wilko all over again.

No one wanted him, now we have to pretend it might work.

They did what we all should have expected they would do and fail to get it over the line. Speakmans interview tells us all what was going on.

Have you actually read any of it?

It's not trying to cope, for me at least. I didn't know much about him. Looked into him. Sounds decent.

EDIT: The club still has a lot to answer after the last couple of weeks regardless of whether I'm satisfied with the appointment eventually.

The majority of fans on here didn't want Keane, he got 36% in the poll

I look forward to revising this in 18 months when we are still mired in the lower leagues and Neil hasn’t done anything to change a horrific club that will rot until it falls apart.
Bit of a shit thing to look forward to but we are all different I suppose.

I'm not sure. I wasn't sure if Keane would be. Keane would definitely have lifted the mood but he's not coming and we, as he would say, move on.

Neil isn't as bad as some are making out.
It’s exactly the appointment we should have expected of the owners.

KLD is here to put some gloss on exactly how bad this situation is. We are stuck down here with people in charge who are completely incompetent and will keep appointing losers.

I dont think Neil is a bad appointment really if it is him. But there's huge question marks over the process that's affectively ended our promotion hopes.
