All this talk about recruitment. I thought the done thing is the owner provides the funds and the manager finds through scouts and then signs players. Seems in our case Speakman has the final say.

See I half have this opinion. If I was Keane I’d be insulted that he’s basically said he wants the job yet still hasn’t got it.

Hope he doesn’t for our sake though.
Thing is, as you know, I've wanted him back for a long time. I make no apologies when I say I love the bloke. So if it does go tits up this time - which let's face it, we're not that lucky, it probably will - I'm gonna be left thinking the timing probably wasn't right.

16 games to go and most likely the play-offs. No transfer window. A questionable setup behind the scenes. It's far from ideal.

Keane coming back now writes him off as a potential suitor in future. I'm not entirely comfortable with that. But I want him back anyway.

It is on reflection, but it’s a must that we offer him at least 18 months. Would be harsh just to offer a short term deal to any canditate imo.

They also do need to hurry up, our caretaker bosses don’t have a clue bless them. At least Sbragia was tactically okay to begin with.
Agree on the urgency. I suspect if until the end of the season, that would be Keane's choice, although I think after the last defeat it's more of a longer term goal now. I've said it loads and I get the counter arguments but sacking a manager in our position is nearly always going to negatively impact our target.

Of course, if we do go up we will need better quality players in for another promotion push. If the owner doesn't put the money in next season then we stand little chance of getting near top end. That is a good question and where I would have my doubts about handing it all over to Keane to deal with.

I think Keane should have his say on players coming in, he is managing them but I don't think we should be giving him full reigns to spend whatever he wants for players coming in.
I was thinking more like forgetting about instant promotion pushes from the Championship because serious money would still have to be spent merely to consolidate there, but yes, the availability of enough money and who gets to use it is still relevant.
