Given we've coming off the back of arguably the worst two results in the club's entire history, then I expect anger and emotions are understandably running high. But honestly: I can't get furious about us taking a bit longer to get the right manager in, I think it's sensible.

Urgency can be a false economy. The most important thing to do now is get the decision right. I agree that Saturday was a mess and I also agree that there was clearly no plan in place to succeed Johnson as many thought when the unexpected decision to sack him came. But, was that decision wrong? No, I don't think so. And given it's harder to plan a managerial change than scout new players and given it is the most important decision a club can take, football-wise, I support taking the time needed. And really: at most clubs it takes longer than this. I know we are not in the Premier League and every case is different, but it took Everton, the mags, Spurs, United even a fair bit longer than it seems it will take us.

Some people will say "ah, but every game takes us further behind" and it's probably true, given how we are playing. But equally automatic was already the top two teams to lose and we came from further back last year to give ourselves a shot last year. If play-offs are the most likely route through still, then it pays to take extra time. Say it's Keane - do you not think if we are playing well that play-offs give us a sporting chance? This team, when confident, is already the best in the league - we shouldn't be so desperate to get someone in place that we make a bad decision.

And there is scope for that. I am ever more excited about the prospect of it being Keane, but it has to work for both sides or it will blow up. Furthermore, I want Speakman and KLD to have the courage to walk away from that if it doesn't feel right and that decision will take some time to ruminate on too.

False economy. It's chaos because the sacking was unplanned. But it was right and I don't think, other than fact he should have been peddled in October perhaps, board are making big mistakes yet. They took a decision that was always going to be chaotic based on the principle that a 6-0 defeat in the third tier is unacceptable for this club. I think most on here would agree.

Nonsense. Don't confuse their mismanagement of the situation for due diligence.

99% of managers won’t leave the club in a higher position usually. Otherwise a non league club could just make someone manager and expect to be in the Prem within 10 seasons.

I'm sure when you appoint a manager the general idea is that they should be good enough to progress the club mind. Fair enough sometimes a manager will stay too long and things might deteriorate, but I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that there might be managers who actually leave clubs in a better position when they move on, or at least did progress them for the first few seasons of their tenure. If we can't expect a manager to improve league positions I'm sure why clubs bother spending a load of money on hiring them. And of course it won't always happen, that's why we should be looking to appoint one who has managed it, as there's a chance they might actually have a semblance of managerial ability

Agree with all of that. The appointment has to be right even if fans are disappointed. I believe Johnson was an error but as KLD/Speakman were only here 5 minutes I can forgive. This appointment has to be right from all angles. I hope its Keane but if that doesn't work for both parties then I hope the appoint someone like Alex Neil.

In an ideal world I would agree with this I. Principle but I think you’re being incredibly generous. They have made a right mess of the situation and need to repair it quickly by getting Keane installed. The other candidates are very poor.
