On the one hand I think if Keane is serious about ever getting into management (not to mention the fact he's said many good things about us and that he has unfinished business here) then realistically I cannot ever see him getting a better opportunity at this stage.

On the other he's a stubborn b@stard. Whether it be money (surely can't be an isuse), length of contract, control over various team affairs including recruitment, style of play etc, then I could easily see him not agreeing if it didn't fit his demands.

On the face of what we've seen tonight it looks abundantly clear he wants the job and so far so good, but there's always that bit of doubt due to Roy being Roy.

Imo he aint even got a choice to it! He has to take it. Theres no where left for him to go in management.

Also coming into a league 1 club looking to build something is perfect for him to build his philosophy / standards easier. Cant do that as easy with established top players / clubs. Obviously hoping more than anything but i can see this being a really positive move for both sides

That would be a resent shout that mind, he’s been coaching for a while and is canny by all accounts s.

No idea how true it is. I know the lad has links to Forest but how closely I don't know. It may be just a case of sounding him out. Like I said, I can't remember if Keane and Reid overlapped with Ireland but it could sort of make sense. Decent reputation within the game, knows Sunderland and might have worked together before.

I don't know if it will be a good appointment or a bad appointment. But do I wanna see it? oh aye

The bloke would crawl over broken glass for another shot at managing this club, he won't be able to believe his luck. He'll be announced as soon at the ink is dry on the contract
