Funny thing is that like Thaw’s character, I loved real ales. I stopped drinking for ages then had a bottle a few months back and didn’t really enjoy it. Now I’m more like Thaw himself, I prefer drinking Scotch! I very rarely touch alcohol, though.

Weird fact - my birth father passed away from the same thing as Thaw - oesophageal cancer! He liked his scotch as well…
Ooph. I'm very sorry to learn about your birth father. I was thinking of having a celebratory (or pre-celebration warm up) single malt tonight, but I don't think I'll bother now....

I enjoy a drink of decent whisky, but I lay off booze quite regularly & when I come back to it, I tend to find - like you - that I don't much care for the taste, initially. But I persevere....

Even if he hasn't agreed to come or signed a contract yet if the club have owt about them they'll play Hey Jude about ten minutes before kick off tomorrow

The EFL mandate that at least one person from a BAME background should be interviewed for any first team position when multiple candidates are involved. There are loopholes though - for example West Brom said that Bruce was the only candidate.

What an incredibly patronising policy.
