Tin hat on, but it’s a bit condescending and patronising, isn’t it? I understand why the rule exists, and it’s sad that in 2022 it even has to be discussed, but it doesn’t seem right to interview people when you’ve no intention of hiring them just to conform to a rule. It’s wasting everybody’s time.
I wasn't aware of that protocol, seems like a rushed idea which in my view will have negative impact on long term equality.

No I agree, it shouldn't have to be a rule and we really should be at the point where it isn't. The best people that are suited to the job should be the ones that are interviewed, regardless of anything else.

Bearing in mind all the crimes you've solved for Thames Valley Police over the years, I think you've earned the odd booze-induced coma....
Funny thing is that like Thaw’s character, I loved real ales. I stopped drinking for ages then had a bottle a few months back and didn’t really enjoy it. Now I’m more like Thaw himself, I prefer drinking Scotch! I very rarely touch alcohol, though.

Weird fact - my birth father passed away from the same thing as Thaw - oesophageal cancer! He liked his scotch as well…

It's copying the Rooney rule in the NFL

Pretty much a charade
