You do realise he walked into a club bottom of the championship and won the league. The following season struggled to attract players as we'd amassed 34 points over 2 seasons the last time we played top flight football. Kept us up and we went on to have our longest run in the top flight in decades. He started that. Don't try and belittle the job he done here. He was an undoubted success
I do realise aye, I was there fir most of those matches. Magic time. But it was a long time ago. The situation he is inheriting is very different.

He dosent have 2 transfer windows and a fuck load of money to accomplish the same thing again. That's not belittling him to point that out as those things literally were part of our sucsess back then, a big part. Him using them were a huge part of managing us well.

A poster on not606 said that Keane is booked as a pundit for the Man Utd v Boro game. Let’s see if he actually does it.

I keep saying this as nobody ever replies satisfactorily.

Do you not think the lift it will give the stadium and the club will be enough to carry us?
I think SAFC is too big of a club to be in league 1…the club has been choked to death with mediocrity for years. I don’t know if Keane or Defoe are the answers but it’s definitely showing intent from KLD.
If any of the players are satisfied playing for SAFC in League 1 I think they’re in for a rude awakening if Keane becomes manager…shit just got real !!!

A newbie over the road reckons it's further away from being agreed than people are saying and money is a factor.
I'd be surprised tbh. By many accounts we pay the highest wages in the division, Keane knows he might have to go to league one to get a chance, and I'm sure he knows roughly what the wages would be like in this division. If KLD is desperate to get him I'm sure there'd be a good offer, with more money on the table if he gets us promoted. Despite not likely needing the money I get that Keane wouldn't work for nowt like, but they could have a deal on a fair wage for this level, to be reassessed in the summer. He gets to have another go at management, which he seems desperate to do, at a club where he could progress, and if it doesn't go well he can go and get paid loads as a pundit next season in a world cup year. Maybe money is an issue but it would be surprising

Other clubs have had it easy from us too to be honest. We’ve been great, but when we roar….

It’s only fair to hear what all candidates have to say and give them a chance to put forward their plans. It would be foolish of the club not to have a contingency in place incase something goes wrong with Keane.
