Fair point. If Keane comes I hope he doesn’t bring Tony Laughlin with him, who seemed like a complete understudy. If he does, he needs someone else as well. Coaches who will coach in a more modern way and then let Keane do the oversight and motivation.
I think that's a tad unfair on Tony Loughlan and the other staff we had.

You have to remember that Keane brought Sbragia back to the club after successful spells at Man Utd and Bolton, and he was just good enough to take the job on himself for a while.

Loughlan is first team coach at Burnley under Dyche. Can't be too bad at his job.

We were in the shit when Keane left. Just lost to Bolton badly. New signing from Spurs were rank, amongst the other rank signings.
Malbranque, Tainio and Chimbonda were rank? Chimbonda had an attitide problem and Tainio was injury prone but they were far from rank.
Yes, we had just lost to them and it didn't look great but we stayed-up with the same players. Cisse wasn't a rank signing either, he was class til the board went back on their word to sign him permanently in January. Ferdinand wasn't rank and nor was Gordon.
Keane also brought a young lad called Henderson into the first team after he was nearly released from the academy that season

Here here. For all we know Keane had final say of course but his staff were doing the graft. RK picks the team that the staff have trained and he also would have chose the system. What are his credentials now? Not managed for a decade...I'd love him back for 6 months if he can bring in some quality staff. See what happens.

Totally agree mate. Was surprised when I read the post.
Steed was a cracking signing.

Chimbonda - well I've give you that one, but there was also Andy Reid / Gordon / Jones / Richardson / Carlos / Bardsley / Cisse who were far from rank. In my opinion.
Totally correct.

I specifically meant the spurs trio, Malbranque aside. and my other point to FJH was we were in the shit. most definitely when RK quit.

I'm struggling to think of him working under a DoF, but why interview in the first place? We know that Keane would do his homework and wouldn't even entertain the idea if he didn’t like it.

I think he probably does want to return to management but I'm not certain our offer will be enough to sway him. It's living in a flat in Durham again and he can't impact the current squad in any way other than motivation given the closure of the transfer window. He has to give up a lot with little in return tbh. If he gets us up well it's hardly manager of the year stuff and if he doesn't the club can release him.

Just a gut feeling and I desperately hope I'm wrong mate.

Jesus sorry marra but couldn’t disagree more. Totally opposite for me apart from Pascal who actually wasn’t a bad player but a bit of a mad man.

And if he does accept the job it says everything about his motivation and intentions

I’m saying quite clearly that even if KLD and co have managed to improve the structure of the club by 90% or more from where we were at a few years back, we will still be nowhere near having ‘a modern structure’ as you’d have it.

I’m not remotely saying KLD haven’t made any improvements, I’m saying that over the past several years the club has been such a shambolic mess, hence why we’re in this division, that even what represents an extremely drastic level of improvement in the short term won’t be enough to bring us anywhere near to what a modern, well run football club actually looks like.

Thought I’d made the initial point quite clearly. Not really sure how this is difficult to understand.
You didnt

David Connolly has just spoken well on TS about Keane and counteracted what Agbonlahor had to say this morning...."Gabby's probably not Roy's type of player" 😂
