Some of the negativity surrounded Keanes potential appointment baffles me. As do some of the comments about Defoe.

It's simple to me, get him and we go up. Worry about the rest after that.

We can play football and score goals. We have proved that. The same lads have also been humped and threw towel to easily. They just need organised, conditioned better and leading. Keane's the man for that job.

Shouldn’t have to think about it like

What else he Gonna do
Might need to see if the family are open to moving? I'm not sure how old his children are but you'd think he'd need to at least consult with the Mrs.

14 years ago now : a good season then had to be peddled.

The success of SAFC can't be dependent on one man turning back the clock to rediscover his best work

A good season? Forget the one where he kept us up in the PL? And he’d have probably kept us up the second one? He admits himself he should have set survival as the target the second season and part of his implosion was because of his unrealistic expectations to be higher up the table.

magical thinking that Keane would suddenly become a good manager just because he's back at Sunderland even though he's tried and failed elsewhere and the top two leagues won't touch him.

It's not about sentimental redemption fairy tales : we need the absolute best manager we can attract at this level on our budget.
His time at Ipswich was no more a failure than countless other jobs by the various names populating the bookies' shortlists.
