I am pulled in two directions about him. Under Keano we had our longest unbeaten run in 06/07. Of the final 19 games in 2007 of that season we lost only 1. Colchester away. None of the first 17 were losses. We have never gone 17 without losing since. I cannot remember when it was we last did that. This gives me hope tactically he is good enough to get us out. But I fear he won't be experienced enough.

We used to laugh at the mags over their Keegan and Shearer obsession. We are going the same over Keane and Defoe. We just lost 6-0 and it’s seems forgotten over a couple of big names.

I like Defoe but can’t stand Keane. Some of the things he’s said and done over the years are appalling. We will become Ireland reserves again and that won’t get us where we want to be.

Can just imagine Speakman asking about his footballing philosophy and him answering “well I’ll karate kick one tactic board in half and if that doesn’t work I’ll do another”. Why did he even have a tactics board in the dressing room? Can’t imagine him spending too much time on pomos, pressing triggers and passing patterns.
