Roy Keane

This is the bloke who came in and carried this club from bottom of the Championship to the Premier League, and kept us there.

Yes, it didn't work out for him at Ipswich, but it hasn't worked out for any manager at Ipswich for a long time. Sometimes clubs just go in to decline and its very tough for anyone to arrest that decline. We should know that as well as any fan base.

The man is a winner and a legend of the game. He has a good history with this club, still speaks affectionately about it and is keen to get back in to management. He's one of the few people in football who can walk in to a dressing room and command instant respect. I can't even begin to think how much of a boost it would give the young lads in our squad to be working for Roy Keane. How much they'd get from it.

I've heard him speak a lot about football and reflect on the times he had - and mistakes he made - at SAFC and Ipswich. I have no doubt whatsoever that he'd be a better manager now than he was back then. Let's not foget that back then, he was in his 30s and fresh off the back of his playing career. He admits that that there was a lot he needed to know, but didn't back then.

If he wants the job it's an absolute f***ing no brainer for me.
Said it a lot better than me mate. I just love the bastard

He creates and nurtures them on a regular basis with his media image. Plenty of ex-players talked about him snapping tactic boards in half etc. Did it twice during one half time talk according to whitehead (i think it was).

So what? It's his job to call out people who aren't pulling their weight. We could do with some high standards and brutally honest conversations in the club. Those same players responded to it - they won the league then stayed in the Premier League.

There were a few in that squad at the start of that season who were playing to get him sacked like. shysters.
I doubt he even knows Johnson isn’t the manager now.

'Lee who?'

Woodgate or Keane, there's only one option there. BHH.

I haven't voted for Keane despite the fact I loved his time here. And love his passion. However, I think we should be looking at a younger coach with fresh ideas or a young European coach.

But if its 6 months, it may be enough time to spark us into Promotion, I might even believe we could win the play offs with him. Trouble is, last time it took him until after Christmas to get the mix right and get the sustained winning run. Could he achieve it a bit quicker in L1? Possibly, And it'll be a hell of a ride.

Will he get the chance?
He had to turn an oil tanker round last time. If he was to come now, he'd have probably the best squad in the league to work with.

Your ex is your ex for a reason. Have a feeling this one may prove why you should never go back.
He would have the presence in the dressing room but he is Cheshire based which would be the 1st problem

And again:

“Keane is box office”… and with that quote your honour I rest my case…

Bring him yem!

Momentum is everything in football! He and Defoe give us it in abundance, should be a steam roll job to automatics.

All this, haven’t worked in x years blah blah, he had never worked full stop as a gaffer last time. He has always been around football, his punditry is superb and for what it’s worth I’d love Micah as his assistant!!!
