Aye, but if you have three teams after you (Oxford, Charlton and ourselves), you're going to wait for one to panic and offer more than the others aren't you.

Depends what the offers are ….if Oxford are offering £10,000 a week for example and we are offerening £9,000 is that going to really be a factor for JD given that he is possibly already earning those kind of amounts weekly from investments etc ?

You'd like to think so. The fact it has dragged on weeks now suggests otherwise imo.
 
There's no way the club are sitting around waiting for him. I think it's all very unlikely and we are looking for another forward and rightly so.
 
Surely Defoe must realise that clubs need to get players in before the deadline. They can’t put things on hold in the hope that a free transfer may choose them.

I written that paragraph in the presumption that it’s Defoe holding things up.

Agreed. I now reckon it's more likely to be another striker, not Defoe, this window.

Ladapo has to be a strong shout. We've been linked with him before, he's still sitting on a transfer request at Rotherham, and Rotherham have just signed another striker.
