It would leave us pretty short, but if we can shift him on for a decent fee I can see how it would be difficult to turn down. He is a League 1 standard player and hasn't progressed as we have hoped.

Not denying that all mate. I thought he could have developed better than he has but he's obviously had injuries and what not. If we get a decent fee amd don't leave ourselves short then fair enough but I still think he can contribute this season and we review in the summer. He's nowhere near one of the first I'd be looking to move on.

Agree entirely. From a business perspective I can see why they're considering shifting him. His value is at the highest point it's ever going to reach with us, we'd get less for him in the summer as the market is easier for buyers to work in. Reckon he'll be off like.

As a six month stop gap until we sign and rehab Broadhead (a kid who he signed and played) I’d be very happy with the poaching nature of Defoe not arsed about him doing 15km per game. If he signed he’d instantly be the one I’d want a chance to fall too above all other, even Stewart.

There were definitely a few Defoe chants ringing out throughout the game, not many joined in like. (Including me, didn’t think it would help the team).

They were inaudible because it was only a few joining in. Most probably thought it wasn’t a chant our players needed to spur them on at the time.
