Level you played at/ Level you should have played at.

As in the title I would like to know what level posters on here played at and what level they think they could/should have played at. Also what were the reasons why you didn’t play at the higher level you feel your god given talents deserved. I will start. I started playing pub level football in the late 80s and finished my illustrious career at pub level standard. I reckon I should have been picked up by a scout and maybe played in some of Liverpool’s European cup finals and maybe knocked a World Cup off. I only didn’t make it as one of the top players of my generation due to my asthma. Bob Paisley said i reminded him of Kenny Dalglish and only thing different was that I was much better than him in the air. I was told to keep playing for my pub team and the scouts would still come to watch me. I told him to F@£k off. That was that really.

Sea level ,probably should have been lower many said .
That’s about as low as you can get and normally I would say I understand where you are coming from, but with me being one of the top rated kids of my generation aged 17 I reckon we don’t compare.
Played regularly at the climbing trees or across the bus link and featured in numerous penalty shoot outs against the garage door. Was never scouted and never able to fulfil my potential.
Did you play Wembley or SPOT. I was in the top three in the country at SPOT.

Can remember getting wrong off my Dad for balls on the garage roof and saying we were playing Chris Waddle's penalty shoot out ☺️
I had a similar problem but with Titties in the basement. Mods
Harry Redknapp told me I reminded him of a young Scott Minto. Except I was a bit older.
We’re you 38
Played Centre Half and Right Back in the Wearside League.

Had the height and strength, very good passing ability and control, and according to some, read the game like Terry Butcher.

Unfortunately I had the pace of a fat bloke on holiday!
Did you become a butcher by any chance. If so can I ask how much your meat wraps are as I’m paying over the odds at the minute and there’s no way that’s sirloin.
Was on schoolboy forms for 6 month at Swindon Town trials at Newcastle 🤔, Sheff Wed.
Stopped playing at 17, booze and burds were the future…
So what you are saying is you were good but potentially I was much better. Thanks.
Played only Sunday League level. Never 'practiced' or even trained really. Everyone could be better at whatever they choose with the right knowledge of how to practice and improve consistently.
I’ve slipped into a coma
I was once compared to Jim Baxter,The scout from Everton said "compared to Baxter you're "shite"
Speaking of Everton, Bob Paisley said to me that if I ever signed for them that I would be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life. Said something about some big crime family over that way and mentioned my knee caps. I liked Bob

In football... I played at school team level, a regular pick but never great. Probably about my level

I was a far better cricketer. Played school team, and local village side. I was among the best, but found it quite soul destroying playing amateur cricket with lads so much older, who didn't seem to care all that much about the game.

I maybe wouldn't have amounted to anything serious, but I regret not trying harder to advance.

I think with you only being 5 foot 1 it might have been better had you got into horse riding. You never know you might have won the grand national or even wrote red rum or shergar.

I played 5 aside with my mates. That was probably slightly too high of a level for my abilities.

I play like I’ve never even seen a football before.
Serious question. Have you got more than 5 mates. If you do then why only play 5 a side when you could play with a full 11 a side team.
Wearside league.
In Italy the over 40's ex pro league, played against Di Canio, yes I've mentioned it before and put pics up on here before the were deleted.
Do you think Di Canio was as good as you as it would seem you were a bit of a legend. Maybe like a Maradona or a Stan cummins.

.
Did you miss the bit where I said I play like I’ve never seen a football before?

I wouldn’t want to play competitively - 5 aside on a Thursday night and Saturday morning in my 20s was fine with me. Now I’m in my 30s I’m happy with gym sessions on my Todd.

Rugby at Level 8 on a Saturday and then pub team on Sunday morning - our coach on the Sunday was David Moyes. He ended up managing a few leagues above like

Leeds academy about 14 years ago. Tore my cartilage at 16, couldn't be bothered with the physio so when it was 'healed' I tore it straight again. Fucked it off after that but my knee is totally fucked. Could have had a knee replacement at 25 due to 'severe degeneration', fissuring, all sorts of shit. 30 now and still playing but for West Yorkshire Police team waiting for it to blow.

I'd never have made it to any decent level mind - just never dedicated to it at a younger age and always a confidence player which I never had. Always thought the 21 other players on the pitch were better so hampered me massively. Now I regret not working harder at it when I was younger. 16 year old me was a right c.unt.
