You can understand why kids no longer want to be a caulker/burner or a tank cleaner when they can sit in their bedrooms and become millionaires.

Jimmy Donaldson, the 23-year-old American better known as MrBeast, was YouTube's highest-earning content creator in 2021, according to Forbes.
His elaborate stunts have generated more than 10 billion views on the platform and earned him $54m (£39m).

He has overtaken 10-year-old toy reviewer Ryan Kaji, who has topped the annual list for the past two years.
Together, the 10 best-paid YouTubers made a combined $300m (£218m) in 2021, the US magazine estimated.

Yeah I know that and he is very good at what he does. The one where he gives a house to the pizza delivery lad had me in tears.

I might start me own channel and be a billionaire. Can't be that hard shirley?
Why not likely Jeff especially with your weather knowledge, maybe you could do “presenting the weather in every county in England” ?

I've got a young relative who was extremely good academically when he was in primary school. He was way above the other kids his age and one of his teachers said he was borderline child genius. Every school subject, everything he did he was good at. He also learnt himself to play guitar and keyboard. It just came natural to him and he was making up his own tunes.
Fast forward a few years and he's now in second year at senior school. He's doing poorly at a lot of his subjects and constantly gets detentions for not doing homework or even work in lessons. He's lost interest in music as well.
He's very good at gaming and has been invited to join a team, I think the game he mainly plays is call of duty. He also does videos of his games and puts them on YouTube.
He's not interested in school now because he wants to be a pro gamer and youtuber. He thinks he'll make a fortune from doing something he enjoys. He's throwing his life away and doesn't even realise it. I just hope he comes to his senses or his mother takes the playstation away. Before it's too late.

He’s clearly an extremely creative and talented person. It just so happens that YouTube is the medium on which he operates, because that’s the time we live in. It’s no different to the way things have always been in that respect - people who are ultra talented or creative will usually do well, given the opportunity.

That said, for every one of him, there’s a million who’ve tried and failed.

How many lads have neglected their studies in the past as they were convinced they would be pro-footballers?

Agree with that. Easy to get a bit jealous when you see how much some make for "easy" work, but if it was easy we'd all be doing it. If I uploaded a video I'd get about 5 views. In a way I think it's great that anyone with a good work ethic and some creativity can have a shot at making a fortune almost regardless of their situation in life (as opposed to those on the tele who normally got put into drama school by well off parents etc). If you've got a phone (which I know not everyone has) then you can put yourself out there, then if you make a bit from it you can get a computer and some editing software to kick on. Must be ridiculously difficult to make a living from YouTube never mind making that kind of money
