New Development (toll bar - ryhope)

That’s what I heard but didn’t want to say without any facts.

Not surprised like all main contractors inc myself have lost out over the past year.Putting pen to paper on fix priced contracts with penalty clauses whilst everyone around you moves the goal posts .Nightmare
I'm sure there were lads working most of the Christmas holidays on there aswell so it's probably not small change they're owed.

I drove past one night in December and there was still lads working at 8pm with only the excavator lights on! Thought it looked a shabby operation then.
Aye, never many people there but always something happening. Always thought it was gonna take forever but not this bad haha

Which is?
My comment is based on facts. There’s been many occasions when local authority and private projects have had to use out of area contractors to deliver schemes due to lack of able contractors in this area to deliver them. I know this having spoken to people who allocate the works. Hope that’s ok with you

So if there’s a lack of able, local contractors how is that the city’s fault?

Ah, so you didn't actually read what I wrote then. No worries.

It has nothing to do with the council (beyond planning approval) so your comments aren't based on facts & your accusations about lack of ambition are nonsense.

Do you even know who owns the land? Chances are, they owners won't even be local.

Just like the shipyards, the council don’t own this land either.

A lot of the companies and ambition levels are a reflection of the city. Walk around sunderland city centre any day of the week and you’ll see my point.

Yes I know the owner of the land and I know how the tender process is carried out which is why I know my points are valid. Based on facts

Still nowt to do with the council, which is why your claim about the city's lack of ambition isn't valid at all.

When people talk about a places ambitions, they're usually referencing the local council.

You can't pigeon hole a whole city because of the actions of 1 individual or company who might not even be local & therefore not really care that much

It's just usual self loathing that the usual whingers get off on

Fair enough respect your opinion. Sunderland is my city I love the place. I just get frustrated by what I regularly see as a lack of ambition which I here a lot of in the industry i work in.

Not even going to bother going into specifics but you're all over the place
Away from those daft echo awards there's people making serious progress in Sunderland outside your little world
