This is stage 1 for Newcastle. Buy experienced, proven players to stabilise them, knowing that in the long run those players will have little sell on value or longevity, and won't be good enough/young enough for the heights Newcastle want to hit.

Wood and Trippier are clearly good signings for Newcastle. Yes they are both the wrong side of 30 and they will be overpaying them, and they'll never get their money back. But that's not the game they're playing, right now. Having said all that, it would hilarious if they still go down and have a bunch of 30+ year old players on skyrocket salaries 🙂

I would argue the top teams in that link don’t have a target man either, yous don’t get crosses into the box as yous do not have much of the ball most games, only time will tell if yous start getting more ammo into the box, but the figures look awful for now
We actually do get balls into the box. The difference is we don't have anyone who is there to attack it apart from Wilson and he doesn't possess that physical bullying power to make anything of most. Wood will be a proper target man and actually offer much more end product for a better mindset of getting more balls into that area. Trippier will massively add to this but we have many players capable of doing so.

As it stands all we can do is talk it up or down.
Only time will tell if it works but I have to admit I am optimistic.
A striker that doesn’t score goals is exactly what they need.
But he does.
My mate who supports Burnley is delighted, they think he's a plank and makes them play one dimensional hoof ball.
Clearly not the case.
Without wishing to sound disrespectful towards the lad I feel he is a little one dimensional. If he gets stuck in and clatters a few people the mags will love him but he is not a top striker.

If however, Burnley go down and they stay up then in some way it could be seen as an astute signing.
He's a decent striker.
A change may just reignite his goal tally.

Get a life.

Never wanted Mbappe, wood was always their dream signing
Mbappe's decent enough and would be an ok signing but I feel we need to aim a big higher. Wood is definitely higher. ;)
More chance of getting MmmBop on the back of their shirts

If he's a Burnley fan, I can guarantee he has seen more of Chris Wood than you, so how can you say it's clearly not the case.

I'm just browsing Amazon for you, for some more straws fro you to clutch at.
Is he?

So I heard it mentioned they had 200m to spend in 3 years to sit right with ffp, that’s nearly 40m of it gone on these 2 players in buying fee alone. does the players wage come into ffp.

Chilling warning to others that they can just poach their best players just like City did

Except Wood was a release clause, dont let that ruin a good story though
I’m not a great follower of the premier league and haven’t been for the last few years but I still know the decent footballers that score goals, Salah, jota, etc but this woods bloke is no where near them. If I was a mag I’d be thinking 25m for someone who doesn’t score goals in a struggling team is a terrible signing, at least it gives Burnley the chance to buy someone that does score goals
