The difference is, we didn't have a real target man. If we sign Wood, we will have and then we will see a lot more to him.
I would argue the top teams in that link don’t have a target man either, yous don’t get crosses into the box as yous do not have much of the ball most games, only time will tell if yous start getting more ammo into the box, but the figures look awful for now

He should look better than the rest. England international who was playing for a very good team.... then he joined us!

Not sure either is huge money in the current climate.

Trippier is a good signing. Wood...... not sure about him.
Biased but fair.
Trippier and Wood apparently share the same agent, if so the agent will surely have negotiated a mind bendingly high package for Wood. What's Trippier getting £170K a week or something. Exactly as you say handcuffing older players on huge wages to the club for years.
Is he also Beheadies agent?

It’s only a bad signing because of the money. 25m for that is ridiculous like. But if you take the position that money is no object whatsoever for them, then it’s not a bad signing partly as it weakens a relegation rival. If they stay up though and he’s turning out for them more than the odd time next year then you’d have to say the new owners are failing miserably somewhere with their recruitment!

Money is an object. The mugs have to meet the demands of football fair play. If you spunk £25M on a journey man that's money you can't spend elsewhere.

I suppose they could sell him on for about £10M (his true market value) but you've still put a dent of £15M into your overall spending budget.

I think for 20m in this day and age he is a decent signing. He has a 1 in 3 record in the PL for Burnley. Yeah he is not the superstar they crave but I think he will be decent short term for them

Short term is all well and good but he's gonna want a decent length contract on decent money. There's no way they'll be able to find a buyer after they're finished with him so he'll be there for the duration.

Basically a signing we would have made a few years ago when we were panicking like fuck in January while stinking the premier league out.

Heard on radio last night they've got 2 strikers lined up from abroad to replace him.
Burnley still regularly include 10 players who got them promoted in their match day squads in the PL which means they don’t hoy money away. They don’t spend often but they do scout/data a lot to ensure vfm. I would think they’ve got good targets lined up. Hopefully not the LND.

It will be interesting to see what Burnley do with the money.

I've got a horrible feeling they'll do fuck all with it TBH. Seems like it's caught them by surprise. Which will be f***ing astounding considering the marginal gains most prem teams look for these days.
Trevor Sinclair on Talksport saying Chris Wood is a snip at 25m. 😂

Guaranteed shocking signing if he's coming out with that. He's an absolute weapon that bloke.

He might still reject them but it’s unlikely. I think Burnley are down whether he leaves or not. It’s Watford or the mags.

Only difference is they will now be able to afford his wages whilst they don't need him. FFP may come in to it, but I think we all know there is ways around that.
