All whilst Newcastle fans keep putting stars up comparing his record to Marcus Rashford and Firmino to convince themselves he is a superstar:lol:

Those names cost fortunes and generally want to play for the elites.
We are not that.
We are a struggling premier league club, as it stands.

We need big players who want to fight for the cause and who believe they can do a job. Let's hope these are them...and if not, we start again.

Big names wanting an end of footballing life wage send off to make a team sheet appear fancy, is not what we need if their main aim is nothing but financial with little return.

Wow. You've literally signed two players for big wages and decent contracts who are 31 and 30. The very definition of mercenaries. They're not going to your club for the 52,000 screaming Geordies, just in case you hadn't realised.

Unfortunately it's the nature of the beast that football authorities put into place and it comes back to bite clubs. the Bosman ruling was the final nail in that coffin.
That ruling forced clubs to offer silly long contracts for fear of losing players too early for nothing.
The problem was it offered players a set wage to sit on on the back of it.

That's what agents do. Very few if any will sit there and negotiate a bad pay day for their player and themselves.
It's horse for courses.
Get a well run club on a budget and negotiate on that basis.
Get a moneybags club and you negotiate in a higher bracket.

That's football.
2.5 years is fine.
They aren't players being bought for sell on fees. They're players being b ought to do a job of keeping us up and adding a bit of squad depth if we do...or being more than fit for purpose if we don;t stay up, in terms of getting us back up quickly.

Looking at it from those points I'd say it's clever.

Yip he very average fits in well for long ball physical team like Burnley most his goals seem to be goal mouth scrambles from set pieces and long ball flick on little pace or quality but another famous number 9 😂

I think it's a clever strategy which offers a lot of contingency.

Trippier is on a 2 and a half year deal. I'd hazard a guess Wood will be similar.
Trippier's wage is open to speculation but I highly doubt it's as high as £170,000.
I'd guess at just over £100,000...but that's also just me speculating.

now Burnley have knocked in a average of 2-3 more balls into the box per game than yourselves, and he has scored 3 goals, yes 3 goals this season, yous are very low on the balls into the box stat mind, but knowing how it always seems to work out for yous he will turn into prime tedy sheringham for a few weeks and bag a load of goals

So Eddies new tactic will be give the ball to Trippier who will be crossing to the prolific Wood to get them out of trouble🤷‍♂️

Hardly forward thinking tactics and more worrying since Trippier has zero assists this season and Wood has scored an impressive 3 goals in a system suited to him🥴

One thinks they haven’t thought this through too well
