It wasn’t in Man City’s first couple of transfer windows either. The signings they are making are quite sensible. Proven premier league players with good attitudes, rather than overseas, expensive risks
Is that why they've been chasing loads of players from abroad with no PL experience but have ended up taking an easier option by activating a contract clause? ;-)

So aye, maybe it's a sensible signing (though 3 goals against weak opposition so far this season isn't great) though that's not really through their own choice but rather due to the many knock backs they've had.

I mean Wood is a decent player and with Wilson injured they need a front man but he is not exactly an upgrade. They have replaced their injured striker with one of equal or arguably less quality. The impact on Burnley will be interesting, will they have a replacement lined up, you would hope so.

He's not going to be coming for peanuts either, and so won't be easy to get off the books in the next couple of years. That's going to be 2 competent aging strikers nowhere near top 6 level already earning a canny wedge on their books.

When that lot sold their soul to the devil they will 💯 have expected better than Eddie Howe and Chris Wood. They're not going to admit that though. It's marvellous seeing them trying to convince themselves they're happy.

Bruce signs Wood and the signing would be vilified
They are currently in the process of convincing themselves it's what they need. They're doing it as we speak on Total Sport. It's hilarious man.

They need a better striker than him like. They need at least a top half prem quality striker just to stay in this league over the next 5 months.
The main thing that leaps out is that they still haven't really strengthened the key areas of their first team that need improving. Trippier is an upgrade on Manquillo/Krafth, but Wood is just a less prolific like-for-like understudy to Wilson. Where are the two CBs they need? Where are the central midfielders? These are just papering over the cracks signings.

I dont actually think Wood is a bad player but the new owners are running the Mags exactly the opposite of how you need to do things.

Thats Trippier (31) and Wood (30) being brought in for huge money / wages and neither will give you any resale / money back whatsoever.

Ashley got them into a position for FFP to ensure they could spend but these are going to blow it within a few windows and end up strapped by regulations.
