Energy suppliers going bust

Your money will be moved to your new supplier in the form of credit. Sadly it will more than likely be wiped out and kept by your new supplier, at least thats what happened to me. Half (£88) was kept to settle old bill to igloo who went bust, even though iv never had a settlement bill from igloo. The other half went to eon next, which was instantly took off an almost £300 bill they have give me after i submitted a meter reading. Iv had no breakdown bill off eon, just an amount i owe them apparently for usage since the changeover.

The whole thing stinks. Lack of communication a big problem. Soon as i get a breakdown bill il be going through it with a fine tooth comb.
I emailed Avro 3 times over around a month asking for the refund pointing out that they should do this within 5 working days, no reply, then went bust, octopus took over and apparently is responsible for the refund, I emailed them the reply started " Thank you for reaching out to us" need I say more, they said they would refund me when they had the details from the regulator, this was in October. PFP refund should be from BG, I hold no hope out whatsoever.
That electric estimate is utterly mental, sure the average for a 3 bed house is about 4500kwh per year.

Feels like some real finger in the air type estimated that mate, I’ve lived in a house with E7 and storage heaters and got nowhere near that sort of usage!

Think this has been said before, they are just trying to get money in (free loan) and taking the piss out of everyone - if you'll let them. British gas are now saying I can't have the tarriff I was put on when the regulator switched us if we don't get them to install smart meters.

I managed to get them down from 220 to 175 (previously 95) but still no mention of my existing credit. They’ve also taken my last bill from my last given reading, but I had an estimated one after that so no idea what’s going on.

Same here

Have you had any communication from the administrator regards to a refund?

British Gas ballsed up my payments and now I'm in arrears with them. I'm having to pay £240 a month to get it back on track while keeping up with future bills.

The lass dealing with my complaint said it could be between 3-6 months before I hear anything.

I've had none whatsoever, I swapped from avro at the end of July to pfp, avro went bust and owe me £41, pfp went bust a few months later and owe me £236. Apparently octopus are dealing with avro's and British gas with pfp's I'm told both are waiting for details from the regulator.

Nightmare.

Just logged onto my old supplier website and it shows I'm £572.43 in credit with them.

I’m owed £184 from Avro who were supposed to transfer it before they went bust to Utility Point, who then went bust 😂.
Pretty much written off getting that back any time soon, or at all !

Mate, I had emailed Avro 3 times asking for the refund (same as you before they went bust) pointing out they should refund within 5 working days, all ignored, then they went bust 🥺.
Luckily I'm not desperate for it but I'd bet a lot of people are.

Situation with suppliers going bust has been handled terribly. I think Octopus energy have tried but think it must have been a bit messy. Thought I was all square and then they separated balances and I owe £50 to Avro still..... really annoyed with Avro and how they went about business in the last couple of months.

I'll likely manage the new bills with cuts elsewhere and by using less etc. But feel for those that don't have that and will struggle/choose between other necessary things.

I’m with Bulb , politely refused their offer months ago to increase my payments on the basis I was in credit.

Last meter reading I was still £90 in credit but should go into debit by March ,I’ll not be increasing any payments at all regardless of how much they increase the price.

I’d rather owe them than try and obtain a refund later on.

Anyone with bulb and then moved to EDF has their credit transferred over?
I’m owed about £400
Was already paying £175 pcm, I’m dreading the new bills coming in. Been over 3 months now with EDF and still haven’t had a bill yet despite giving them meter reading each month.

Does your credit transfer over? Or do you need to chase Bulb for it.

AFAIK your credit is given to whoever is taking over the old (bust) companies customers by the regulator BUT only when the regulator has given and verified the amount which I was told could take 6 months FFS.
