Biden Address



His speech has unquestionably declined compared to this time 12 months ago and looks to have aged by a decade in that time as well. Without wanting to turn this into a political thread there's surely no way he runs for re-election in 2024?

That's probably mainly because no other obvious candidate has emerged, on either side. Biden will be lucky to last until then, and Harris is electoral poison, so I can't see the Dems putting either of them up in 2024.

Indeed - interesting times ahead. It's just a bit dispiriting that the US can't find a decent candidate from their population.

There was always going to be a chance that Biden wouldn't stand for reelection on health grounds. Personally, I like Harris but she hasn't had the best start to being VP often looking out of her depth and she wouldn't be an automatic pick for the nominee. Otherwise Mayor Pete is looking good and is getting a lot more exposure than Harris as the face of Biden's infrastructure programme. But is Middle America ready for an openly gay President?

Perhaps the Democrats best hope is if Trump runs as an independent and splits the Republican vote and maybe the GOP's best chance is if Trump ends up in prison so he can't stand and they get a semi-sane candidate.

The GOP is now the Trump GOP - many american commentators very worried about it... not helped with many news outlets comparing Dems with Commies and other made up shit ... they're centre left at *most*
 
He's a senile old fool who isn't in charge of anything. The last election was rigged against Trump and the next one will be too so you needn't worry him about him any more. The US is a complete mess.
 
Don't think Trump will run again, he's not really talked about anymore.

Alot of the Republicans i see on twitter like the Florida guy, DeSantis is it? or something like that anyway.

Not one of the dozens of court cases found any rigging at all. Especially difficult to rig against an incumbent and Trump would have tried any trick (and indeed did) to stay in power.
The US should be able to do better then Biden but it would be impossible to be worse than Trump.

Worse is infinite the same as best, so there could, and probably will be someone worse than Trump.
