Thinking of building my own one person drone. Only need to get up 2 metres as I'm in the middle of nowhere so just hedges to get over. Has many advantages over driving as I can half the journey to the shops, and actually get out when we get snowed in or flooded.

I have a small inhertence coming, and the missus just said go for it...but because she's partially sighted I felt sad for her not ever being able to fly it, so it's now going to be a two seater. I built a car from scratch in the early 80's because people said I couldn't do it...and that's how I'm usually motivated. I'm busy on the album til April, but that will give me time to source stuff and gen up on the technical stuff. I have a good working knowledge of electro mechanical stuff so should be ok. Going for a tubular aluminum frame and six motors.

that reminds me of footage I saw years ago of a chinese farmer who built a working gyro copter, or another Chinese guy called dragon dad who taught his 5 year old son to fly a bi-plane 
yes, get one of those made, that looks fantastic

I did a few microlight flights with this guy, Dream, in Thailand. He told me he once had a Chinese lady passenger, his engine died on a flight, he landed his flex-wing in a big coach park, the lady thought it was all part of the flight

I have this idea of using just one motor and constructing a Variomatic type gearbox but with four pulley arrangements going to four props. This would allow control with a more physical, connected feel, a bit more like driving a car but with a joystick...much more controllable me thinks.

Not sure how much it gets used there, but over here Realtors (Estate Agents) love some drone shots of properties.
