Dry January

I went off the beer from December last year until July, longest I've ever not drank. I would typically now only drink 5-6 times a year anyway (but tend to get hammered)

I must say in that time, I was probably never as productive or as fit/healthy.

Will do Dry January and try and see how long I can stay off it thereafter.

Drinking 3 times a week Is ott .

I’m generally a few on a Friday and a good sup on a Saturday. The good sup on a Saturday is going to be cut down to a couple.

That's usually the case with me but during holidays like now I seem to get on it a lot more. Not looking forward to going back to work but getting back into a routine will be good for me

Absolutely fucked it in December and had a few 2/3 day hangovers which I can’t be arsed with so looking forward to a month off and getting some fitness back.

I'm piling the weight on lately (110kg) and a large proportion of that is on my belly. Got loads of nice clobber that I can't get into now, so it's either lose weight or get a new wardrobe. With that in mind I'm stopping drinking from January 1st. See how long it lasts because I tend to drink every day, but it's time to try and rein it in.

3 or 4 dry days a week.
Sometimes win 4-3 sometimes lose 6-1.
May try and do 2 weeks at some stage but no need to deny yourself for a month.
Have definitely cut down over the years, sleep great when you do 3 or 4 dry nights straight

I'd be interested to know how often some of the people on here drink usually. Some people seem to suggest that drinking 2-3 days a week would constitute cutting down.

3 pints of a Tuesday night if Sunderland have a game.

4 cans on a Saturday night usually just before and during Match of the Day.

I’ll have more if there’s an occasion I’m going to. Used to be most of the weekend and occasionally midweek. Was a thread on here that kicked my brain into gear and made me realise it was too much to be honest.

Packed in fags, booze and extras on 27th Dec. Easy so far 4 days in.

I haven’t left the house like.
It’ll not last .

I was a animal with the drink 20 year ago.

I kicked it into touch by limiting drink to Friday -Monday night and gym the rest of the week.Kicked the Monday into touch ,then the Sunday and now have have a couple on a Friday and out on a Saturday.
Problem I have is I’m a social drinker and there is always a circle of mates who are out and ask us along so it ends up being most Saturdays having a good sup.

Morale of the story is limit yourself to certain nights to have a sup and a sniff

I’m only packing in the booze while I pack in the fags and that as they are hand in hand.

Not a massive drinker anyway so won’t miss it for a couple of weeks.

I'm debating it but does it count if I do dry Jan bar Sunderland match days?

I still know that's a massive reduction in my general intake of booze but don't want to set myself up to fail. Its drinking after work to forget work is what I need to get a handle on

I can go weeks without, not a bother, as long as there's nothing happening as I rarely drink in the house, apart from proper lockdown, but once a start I'm on a session.
At this stage I'm sick of it so will happily hibernate for January, but if me phone goes ill not be saying I can't cos I'm doing d.j
