Astra Zeneca

Have you got severe disease?
Are you dead?

If the answer is no the vaccine works.
The twitter post said "95% effective against all infection". I was simply pointing out that it may not be, especially against the Delta variant. I said nothing about severity of illness. Look, I'm all for vaccination and of course, it's likely to have reduced the impact on me, but that simply wasn't my point. Why take my point and tried to undermine it by twisting it into a different point?

You must be in the 5% then 😜😜

I'm a bit hesitant to believe that it's 95% effective against all infections when in our house both the AZ vaccinated adults have contracted Covid (one of us with two doses). Perhaps the Delta variant has something to do with this however, which is probably not a factor in that Italian data.
I suspect their data won’t include the delta variant. I have a feeling AZ isn’t as good as Pfizer at stopping spread of it. I am in Canada and our numbers have plummeted as vaccines have gone up and we have focused entirely on getting the first doses in. We have pretty much universally used Pfizer.

The good news is deaths haven’t yet followed case numbers so if that carries on for the next couple of weeks there is no reason not to lift the restrictions

Interesting to read back over this thread now that the mechanism of how blood clots occur with the AZ vaccine has been determined.

BBC News - Covid: Trigger of rare blood clots with AstraZeneca jab found by scientists
What have you deduced from your observations, to save us all reading back through.

When European countries were raising concerns about blood clots there were dozens of posters on here incandescent with rage shouting it was the EU bad mouthing the UK and nothing to do with the actual vaccine.
I remember people being told it was misinformation talking about the vaccine "bad" side effects early days, its why I used to get a bit cheesed off, todays misinformation can be tomorrows fact, its why i think healthy debate and different views are so important, without that it would be harder to find the information, read a hell of a lot more stuff thanks to people sharing on here, some I agree with, some i don't and some i simply don't have the knowledge to fully understand and have to rely on other peoples conclusions. Censorship in my humble view is always a bad thing.

Its interesting to see when fully funded how much these people can do, its great work and hopeful leads to more advancements and safer vaccines.

Do you feel the risk was worth it? I certainly do. It seems like from what is being said today on boosters mixing two shots of the az with a Pfizer or Moderna booster seems to work well. Looking forward to seeing data on those who have been fully vaccinated with all 3 jabs of the same type to see how that pans out. Bearing in mind the rarity of the clotting, whilst raising concerns seems valid, I still think there was some cutting off of noses to spite their own faces at the time. There was far too much politics being played out over vaccines at the time. Every jab is a good one as far as I am concerned.

It's all relative. When this started we didn't know if we would get any effective vaccine. Many have been developed using different technologies and some have fallen by the wayside. For those remaining products there are small differences between them but they are basically good vaccines which do what they were intended to which was hugely reduce the risk of severe illness and death. mRNA vaccines are more expensive and fussy with storage (less of an issue now we know they have a reasonable life at fridge temperature) whereas AZ is cheaper and easier to produce. In the west we've pretty much binned out AZ because it has a slightly dirtier profile and we have the luxury of being able to choose alternative products. How many people in rich countries when offered the choice between AZ or Pfizer BNT/Moderna would choose the former if they were under 30? Probably not many even though the actual risk of issues is very small. If mRNA technology hadn't been developed then AZ would likely have been the covid vaccine workhorse for much of the world. As soon as it became clear an effective vaccine was possible for this corona virus we in the west should have put massive effort into expanding production and distribution to ensure the entire world could be vaccinated asap. It seems we just don't care as long as we in rich countries are alright. We may yet pay the price several variants down the line.

Not just the EU. I was told to admit my reasons for not wanting it were politically motivated. Despite trying but failing to ask the poster to read my replies the right way. As if I had a deeply rooted hatered of all things British.

Check out Dr John Campbell on Youtube about need for vaccine aspiration, stops the vaccine getting into the blood stream where it can cause these blood clots.

very interesting thank you,

a lot of the problems has been about the vaccine getting where it shouldn't have been, collecting in places in the body from what i read and the fact it wasn't expected i thought it was a vaccine problem, it caught everyone by surprise, just wasn't expected by the boffins.

this video is the first time I have seen it could be less than perfect application of the vaccine thats the problem, so maybe the vaccine is pretty sound and the worse side effects could have been caused by a misplaced needle?

no idea if thats te case by could explain why the clinic trials had differing results from real world, food for thought at least.
