WMS Who Owns Sunderland AFC?

its never been made obvious what their involvement would be, that's the issue. Hopefully its not too long before they both fuck off for good
as was said at the time..the business plan KLD submitted to the league as part of his fit and proper persons test included funding that would come from the other shareholders..now if KLD only owns 60 per cent..and the others own 40 per cent, did anyone really think they would fund 40 per cent of the clubs spending over the duration of the business plan-without being involved in some way in how its spent?

He’s asked a question they have already agreed to answer in a meeting. What exactly is the point of that?

To make sure it is answered and not glossed over like this Mercator company was in the last one I presume.

If they come back with a shite answer tomorrow more eyes will be on it and they will be aware of it. Waiting until after to mention it would then mean having to wait until the next meeting months later for an appropriate answer (assuming they want to give one).

Charlie and Donald spent months/years pulling the wool over our eyes and 'answering' questions vaguely and contradictory raising more questions than answering them. Even abusing our fans when these 'answers' were questioned.

It shouldn't even be a question that needs to be asked either as it should have been made public a year ago when the takeover was completed.

Hopefully it will be put to bed one way or another tomorrow. A vague, deflective answer will not be sufficient.

the commitment to transparency can be seen in the fact mercatro is registered in leictenstein...a place where companeis are set up deliberately to maintaon secrecy.

Don't even need to check where the company is tbf. We all wanted to know when KLD took over what %, input, or both, the gruesome twosome had. The club, or ownership group, to be more specific, knew this but months have gone by and has yet to be acknowledge it.

I don't think it's a big ask personally which is why it feels so bizarre they've taken so long.

He should have allowed them to provide the answer to the qs in the meeting instead of making assumptions.

It’s like talking to a brick wall.

i dont disagree with anything youve written there. i would just say, its probably a culture shock to these people that they are being asked to disclose this stuffthey arent with any other business they have..

but that doesnt mean i think the fans are wrong to ask it

Good to see Chris Weatherspoon asking the right questions again. And, entirely in keeping with the last time he did, he’s getting shite for daring to ask some questions that shouldn’t really have to be asked.

It’s amazing how quick supporters turn on one of their own who genuinely cares in order to stick up for people who are temporary custodians of the club.

Maybe it is a lot of words for not a lot of substance as someone has suggested, but we are entitled to know one way or another.
Having someone with his smarts and experience in the fan base is a blessing and should not be taken for granted.

Lot of people trying to blame the new owner and the new board / DoF type people for what isn't going particularly well at the moment.
They've been here approximately 18 seconds by "new owner" measures.

With all the will in the world, it might take a bit of time, but slating them isn't going to help.

I know we've been ran terribly for years, but you have to let it play out before you make judgements.

This thread is people asking for clarity on who owns the club and to what degree tbf.

That isn't something that should need to play out over years. It should be pretty much black and white.

Those “turning” and those liking their posts are yer basic happy clappers marra. Fooled by Donald and Methven once and not wanting it public if they’re being fooled again.

So long as KLD owns more than 50%, the percentages are frankly irrelevant. What matters is who's on the board and who they are backing. The board controls the strategic direction, not the shareholders, and, if KLD has more than 50% of the shares, he controls who's on the board, Simple as that.

Do we even know that he does though?

which is why people want to know exactly how much they do own and how much say / involvement they have in the running of the club. Not much to ask considering the shambles the two of them made during their ownership

yes indeed..my point is simply that KLD never decieved anyone..he always indiacted they would be involved..

Do we even know that he does though?

If he controls who is on the board and the direction then ultimately it's his decison to have Satori on the board as well as Madrox's solicitor (who we believe will be acting on behalf of Donald and Methven) as well as instructing Methven to work on club business.

That raises more questions than even the % share does tbh.

Yeah, but as he mentions, the club have already committed to answering them at the meeting. Not really a criticism, I've said he's doing a lot of good stuff and has done throughout, but I'd have thought a discussion with those attending to make sure the key questions are covered would have been more appropriate than a public article. If the club don't give the answers tomorrow then articles etc would be more called for. But either way, glad he's still asking the questions and highlighting when they go unanswered
The club have a history of promising things they never deliver. Fans and fan groups need to be on the front foot. Especially with Donald and Methven still involved in ANY capacity. SAFC have been pissing on our shoes and telling us it’s raining since WW2.

yes indeed. it doesnt matter so much whether KLD has the power to have them involved or not..if he has chosen to.

I would say though..its very common for minority shareholders, who are going to be asked for millions of pounds of funding, to be entitield to appoint a director or two to the baord.
