What old news story repeatedly pops into your mind now and again

For some reason Leah Betts comes to my mind every few months. Was such a big story at the time, and she wasn't far off my age. I spent ages fixated on the story at the time and I still think about it sometimes now.

For me Birmingham pub bombing I was about 5 at the time but for some reason it’s my first memory of the news. Also the SAS storming the Iranian Embassy. Will never forget that you know shits gone down when normal tv is interrupted.

Back in the late 80s the canton Chinese chef take at the top of Peterlee town centre the owners chained their teenage lass up in the kitchen and had her cooking the bait. Used to go to school with her as well. The parents still live near me mother. She still walks behind him carrying the shopping.

The death of Bobby Thompson. Paper front page in the Hartlepool Mail was ‘region mourns for little waster’

Lockerbie.

It turned out the bombers didn't realise GMT was different to CET. The bomb was meant to go off over the Atlantic an hour later. They set it for 8.30 CET, but was supposed to be 8.30 GMT.
Some reports say it happened over Lockerbie as the plane departed late, they wanted it to go off over the sea to ensure no evidence could be found or to make it as difficult as possible to find. I can still remember the newsflash when it happened. Was only about 9 year old. Awful. A few weeks later after Xmas the Kegworth accident happened.
