How much per month do you need to live?

If it was just me I could get away with half that no bother. Still get out for the match etc, odd other night out etc etc.

Need loads more with kids.
How would you half that? I mean, maybe if your mortgage was paid off, but the NE average mortgage is 450, then say 100 energy (conservative, given the hikes), 100 council tax and water, 50 internet and mobile, plus insurance. That’s about half. Are we assuming you spend zero on food, don’t have a car and cycle or walk everywhere?

I've been using a spending tracker on me phone for the past 3 years or so. Fing frightening how much I spend but very insightful also and clearly shows me where I could back if needed.
Needs a bit of discipline like cos you've got to input every penny and categorize them.

The main thing i stopped was going out drinking and for meals. A night out drinking was $150(ish) a meal for me and the missus was around ($80) but then you include cabs if needed or extra fuel used.

Tips is a big thing here too. 15% minimum expected. Doesn't sound much but say i make minimum wage, I'm expected to tip minimum $12 on a $80 meal, because the multi million dollar company doesn't pay a fair wage....but I look like the cheapskate if I don't. How the fuck did they manage to pull that off?????

Eh? Is that true? Seems really low

Rent - $1650
Home Insurance - $70 (cant rent without it)
Hydro (electric) - $160
Water - $65
Internet - $110
Food - $600
Mobile - $105
Car/Fuel/Insurance - $600

That's depressing as fuck

A few things I could cut out:

I could live somewhere cheaper, but cheaper mean rougher and more insurance.
Less on food
Get a cheaper car
Get a sim only deal on a phone

That's what I think I need for a simple life
Is internet in the US just ridiculously expensive or do you have some ridiculous bandwidth? Same with electric?

That’s what Google says. I think it’s about right. Don’t forget there are millions living in ex council houses that cost very little a month.
Sounds about right. It's about that per £120k.

$110 for the internet.

It's under £50 for 1gb internet around here.

$110 is only about £65 though, so maybe they have a 1gb connection.
