2021 Cycling Thread

No mate , having a mare at work lately so not had chance look , pulled my calf trying to run again enall ☹️. What did you go for ? Any Billy bargains ?

Shite mate. I went the whole hog and got a kickr. Had to skimp and save for a couple of months. There’s definitely cheaper smart trainers available but I was already committed to the wahoo ecosystem, everything just works so well together.

The kickr core is a bit cheaper like. Hopefully they’ll come down a bit soon. Does seem extortionate the prices.
Had mine 11 months now and its definitely one of my better investments from a cycling perspective.
Flexibility is brilliant for me with kids so I can work my rides around the usual family stuff.....

I work 2 on 2 off so I only really use it half the month but I’m on nearly every day when I’m home. No excuses about weather and don’t have to wash the bike every couple of days. I’m trying to get better at duathlons/get into triathlon so doing bike run bricks are much easier, off the bike trainers on and away I go.

You work offshore or summmit ?
Aye they not cheap , let me know if any sales 😀 , then if use zwift or summit similar there’s a monthly fee also to factor in

Sort of, Engineer on ships.

Aye it’s not cheap at all like, I’ve got off the drink and this has helped keep me motivated/busy so it’s paying for its self really. It’s only 4 pints a month:lol:

Stop being tight
It’s not a raw wound at all. Good job I don’t swim in your local pool then.
@D.A
I probably have to apologise to you here. I was making light of what I honestly thought was a bit of a graze. Anyway, Mrs K made me go to the doctor this morning.
I told the doctor that I was there because Mrs K thought I might have an infection at the graze site. He took one look at it and said that Mrs K would be correct.
He booked me back in for 2pm this afternoon (after saying I could get out on the bike one more time), whereupon he directly injected the wound with local anaesthetic (as painful as it sounds, honestly), and cut away the necrotised skin/scab. I’m now on a course of antibiotics and I have to go back next Tuesday for a follow up.
In case you or anyone else is interested I’ve put up the original graze, the infection then the debrided wound.

This has made me laugh  it did look a bit infected like!

Hope it heals well and you're back swimming soon, when it's properly scabbed over

I also went to Herra to watch the event on the Saturday before the match. The course did seem rather forgiving given the weather so the twisty technical section in the amphitheatre bit was as bad as it could've been. I couldn't get along on the Sunday as I needed to do some overtime but it was the Sunday races that would've been more interesting and if I managed to find out the race programme beforehand I would've definitely altered my schedule.

Went to see the cyclocross at Herra Park for a bit earlier. Was a canny event. Wasn’t quite as mental and muddy as some events are but it was still canny. Going back tomorrow for the main event.
I was there too. Plan was to watch first 2 races, but went home frozen after 1st race.
I've raced against quite a few of the local lads in that first race. They always beat me, but someone has to finish last.
Sat. only for me.

Saw the men's elite race at herra on Sunday, some of them were flying round, making the hilly parts looking like flats. Shame the rain arrived just as they were completing the final lap. Would have been interesting to see it more muddy

what's the etiquette for calling out shitty riding from fellow cyclists? people who are letting the side down for everyone with their crappy riding in & around cars\traffic? witnessed some guy commuting in Durham tonight acting like a total dick...

Did a CAT C group ride yesterday on zwift and managed to hold on till halfway when I was (as usual) dropped on the climb......on the plus side my FTP is now at 279
Being around 100kg isnt helping mind.........loose 5kg and I'm in with a shot.....easier said than done :)
