SPOILER-tastic No Time To Die Discussion Thread

Not having it. Bond has sex with a lady in a Union Jack dinghy when the island blows up. That’s how a Bond film should end.
Oh and the giant acid pool was a nod to … Moonraker? Special set built at Pinewood for it? Probably used it here?

Don't forget, wipes out women's psychic powers with his magic cock

Quite possibly, there's loads of nods to previous films in this one

We didn’t see it though, could have got behind some concrete, the explosion knocked everything into the ocean, a badly injured Bond swims for several days in the sea until picked up by a ship. They create a vaccine which means he can see his family without killing them. You could even add in a plastic surgery angle (explosion) for the new actor.
It was a decent sized island.
Reet then neebodies mentioned this yet: WTF was the bairn banging on about mosquitoes and mosquitoes having friends all about?
I thought that was how Bond was gonna find out she was or wasn’t his daughter once he’d been dosed up with the stuff that’d kill all his family.
Or mebbes the bairn weirdly had an inbuilt antidote that was gonna save Bond AND her ma at the end? Maybe THATS how Bond comes back next time around?

The CIA lass was great. She was more double O than the lass who was a double O. It was nee Casino Royale like though I still think Blonde Bonds the best closely followed by Connery. The rest all seemed like hair style models you see on barbers walls in comparison. Craigs hair always looks like it’s a DIY covid lockdown job.

It must be great being Hans Zimmer. You sit at home on your computer and basically rehash the same score for every new film. I thought I was watching the Dark Knight at the end, the score was almost identical.

He is bloody good but come on a bit of variety would be nice.

I’d like it if they’d use the OHMSS music a bit during the actual fillums. Ynar just when he’s about to move up a few gears and get the upper hand. Mind you I’d also like OHMSS music to be our national anthem and England’s run out music and the PLs run out music and Sunderland’s run out music.
@Cockney Mackem
Haway then marra what was the bairn gannin on about mosquito bites for?

I thought it was just a device from the writers in reference to the whole nanobot/passing on disease malarkey

Yeah but to what end? Nowt came of it or mebbes I missed summet?
I thought she’d take bad if he went near her opened wounds etc. Plus if she’d been hiding in her mas family lodge place for all those years surrounded by wounds the mozzys would surely be ignoring her by now. There seemed to be a lot of script weirdness tbh.
If the script was presented to Danny Boyle anywhere like it’s watched by the paying customers I can see why he legged it sharpish.

I just thought it was one of those bits where the meaning of being a carrier of something fatal was just reflected on, kind of "unexpected wisdom of kids" thing
The mosquitoe line was just foreshadowing for what was to come

Yeah, what he said

Get a good writer and director and do a Nolan Batman style take with James Bond, tone down the over the top nature and ground it more in reality, personally think a more Jason Bourne style bond with the jettsetting, women, gizmos and cars but make it darker, grittier and more a kin to real world espionage.

As someone mentioned, have it with some fella on an SBS mission somewhere afar be integrated into SIS/Mi6.

Good movie. Entertaining. A few silly plot holes that they really should be able to see and iron out with such large budgets. The easy destruction of Spectre after all the build up over 4 previous movies, without a more detailed storyline of Safin was disappointing. Reminiscent of the easy dismantling of the white walkers in GOT.

Anyway. The death is very interesting. I like the 'James Bond is a codename' theory. But it has some strong evidence to suggest that's not the case. Most notably the reoccurence of characters such as Leiter, who recognise bond etc. But, with Casino Royale and Craig this was a complete reboot, so they are free to do what they want I guess. This could be the beginning of the codename Bond being used for other people. Then every actor who plays Bond could have a definitive ending, just like Craig has.

I assume that we haven't seen every single mission Bond has ever done, so these people probably bump into eachother from time to time offscreen?

As for it being the exact same James Bond, well it can't really be can it. That makes less sense than the codename stuff. For starters, there's absolutely no way to explain how it was Scottish and old, then English and young.

Mind, this is James Bond, I've got no idea why people even try - it doesn't even try to be realistic. Some of the scences with guns in this latest film were shocking 50 yards away with automatic weapons and he just stands there and they miss. The can at least try to make it realistic?

I do hope that if they do decide to go with the codename thing then we get some backstory or explanation to it, rather than there just be another actor playing bond in a completely unrelated story without any reference to the death.

Which is how they did all the other ones thought, without the death bit of course.

Yes, they just moved on with another actor without any explanation. Hope they dont do that this time. The death should be a turning point in the franchise. It gives them the chance to tell the audience about a codename, for example. And it also gives them the chance to then give every Bond from here on a definitive ending.

You think they'll take that risk? I don't.

Finally watched it. It’s a little too like the last few and easier to list the positives first.

Ana de Armas was incredible. They should burn the whole Bond franchise and make it about her character. She arrived quietly, ruined a run of the mill espionage scene and left the audience wanting more. Best performance in a Bond film for decades.

Lashana Lynch as the moral conscience/Jiminy Cricket character, she’s what Felix Leiter always should’ve been.

I’ve never liked him. Even his name sounds like diet cat food. Insipid generic yank who’s kissed Bond’s arse for sixty years… needless to say glorious to see him die for a second time.

A decent plot would be delightful. Dr No was groundbreaking in the 60s but he’s been duplicated so many times he’s fading away.

Dull, mumbly character that relied on looking badly burned. “I am going to racially profile billions of people, keel zem, and…” they couldn’t even be arsed to finish his motivation for fuck’s sake.

With the endless callbacks they were pumping out like a Bond Force Awakens they should’ve bit the bullet and put up a baddie doing all the things 60s Bond did. Arse slapping, sexist jokes, toxic male behaviour the lot. An Epstein or Weinstein character would’ve been a genuinely chilling Easter Egg.

Apart from that, great film 😄
