Fuck me. Look, the lad had talent coming through at Charlton Athletic, but he's your typical waster. If he was even close to what is suggested he'd not be toiling through his sixth season with Newcastle. He had his chance at Liverpool, was given a wake-up call by being sold to Swansea, and he never learned. He'll finish his career with a solid DVD full of nice passes, a few lads in pubs who'll talk about what a player he was, and the cold hard fact that he never actually utilised his talent in the way he should have. If he had the mentality of say Jordan Henderson he might have stood a chance.
I bet the likes of Hayden, Almiron and Ritchie will be fuming if what Hope says is true about Howes plans for Shelvey
