Racism at Yorkshire CCC

This will sadly be leapt on by the hard of thinking

what’s the old saying, two wrongs don’t make a right?
Thing is though he's made a big story (rightly so) about this kind of language, yet he's done it himself. Will grab attention & rightly so seems he's intent on wanting to educate & improve. Can't just expect it to be brushed under the carpet

More like people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
Seriously? You think they cancel out and he shouldn’t have a problem with years of racial harassment?

I’m not saying it should be.

It’s good that it has all come out and will lead to reform and hopefully a more positive environment for everyone in the future.

However, many will have a less positive view of Rafiq now. Don’t give it out if you can’t take it as one with colleague just said.

I think the best take is that Rafiq has raised arguably valid concerns about the environment in county cricket and these concerns are somewhat validated with certain individuals coming out an apologising.

In my book the language used in his leaked anti Semitic messages is abhorrent and certainly can't be shielded under the guise of banter.

It also highlights his own point about MV etc where they may well not remember because it meant so little to them. Rafiq probably had no idea that he had sent that tweet 10 years ago.
Not even a tweet was a message on Facebook.

Someone has actually trawled back to find it(twitter you can search for key words so much harder work gone to find these comments)

The ones who are now throwing stones at rafiq are the same ones who said Ollie Robinson should face no punishment for tweets he made when he was 18.

Rafiq made these comments at 19/20.

Again two wrongs don't make a right.

I would also say. The difference between racist comments on social media between friends(albeit wrong) is a hell of a lot different to direct racism over numerous years.

I haven’t actually seen them yet. I certainly won’t defend him for it

At the end of the day, a lot of good has come from a sorry saga. Everyone should know now what is acceptable and hopefully we can see a better standard of behaviour and more respect shown to all cultures in the future.
