Racism at Yorkshire CCC

Have to say I believe Tim Bresnan.
I would be very surprised if he wasn't involved in the whole toxic culture - well, he was, he has basically admitted to being a bullying ****.

But of all of them, he is the one where the allegations in that witness statement are more general and less specific. He bullied him though, which is as relevant to the employment tribunal as is racism.

That said, Rafiq's testimony this morning and the depths of allegations he has recepits for - he is fairly credible imo.

Nothing apart from a nothing statement last week where he said he hadn't seen or heard any racism at Yorkshire. Now I really want to believe him but...

Plus he was big pals with Ballance at the time
Unless Rafiq specifically names him surely we have got to believe Root?

Well he said he was still a good bloke but was disappointed he hadn't said more, in his statement today
Did he not even flat share with Ballance at some point ?
Yep

Aye, very close to Gale through being his Brother in law. I'd be amazed if "Brezzy lad from Cas" wasn't heavily involved

It's not good enough for the England captain to be not a racist. Rafiq actually suggests that he is a "good guy", which I took to be - he didn't join in with the throwing around of the p word etc. But that's not the standard.

The problem is, only days ago, Root suggested he had never seen or heard anything. And that has been flatly and - in my opinion, very credibly - contradicted as bollocks. Root issuing a PR managed statement saying he never saw anything... No, sorry, the Aussie media will rightly hound him for the next three months on that.

So much has already been corroborated by people admitting it. Root has implicated himself in the pre-statement obfuscation. It's not that he hasn't challenged it, fine, that group includes everyone. It's actively playing a role in the obfuscation - to protect his mate? to protect his country? I don't know, but this is a watershed moment for English cricket and the captain of the national side cannot, imo, have these kind of questions unanswered.

He should resign. He'd well advised to do so, if purely from a PR perspective. The next three months will be hell.

Aye the lad was really upset this morning. I watched it live. People have to realise that the words they use racial or otherwise can have a devastating effect. Sticks and stones is a load of bollocks. Words can do terrible damage. I worked with a lad years ago and we were all in the cabin having our bait and one of the lads was reading the paper and he mentioned a story about some poor kid who hanged himself because he was getting bullied at school. Carl just broke down in tears. We were all like what the fuck's wrong mate? Turns out he'd been the victim of bullying himself and it fucked him up. Carried it with him through his life like a disease. Smashing lad anarl.

No he shouldn’t resign. People have got different personalities and deal with things differently. If Root said nothing racist then he’s in the clear for me.

I'm afraid, for me, that if he doesn't then it demonstrates that the severity of the issue - and the opportunity to transform the game for good - hasn't sunk in.

His resignation would signal that. As would the resignation of the entire senior leadership of the ECB.

Yorkshire, I mean - they are fucked. But this is bigger than them.
