Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

The Point seems to be making a go at it as a venue

Wonder if this is having a positive effect on the footfall on a night?

Not even a exaggeration, have ya seen the amount of potential jailbait you see between Gatsbys, Trilogy and Ttonic  I feel like the nonce police might be at me door next day if I spoke to em as some of them are barely 18!

Anyone doubting clearly hasn't seen the Town on a night in a while, a bit like they're oblivious to how dead it is on a Friday currently!
Jailbait isn’t 18 year olds.

Fire Station, Dun Cow, we're both busy around teatime, Isis was rammed around 6.30, sold out of pizzas by 7. Port of Call was busy enough for the match though was canny quiet later on.

Get the impression people my age are going out earlier and not stopping out as late these days. Town looked really quiet when we walked along Green Terrace bout 7.15 but looked a few in Fitzies

Down the town with a few workmates later on, we will try to frequent as many of the establishments as possible. Purely in the interest of the local economy of course.

I'm out in town tonorrow. I won't be looking out for potential jailbait though because I'm 37 and not a nonce.

Intrigued how you're distinguishing between student jailbait and local jailbait though.

Fridays have been dead in town for atleast 15 years.

I think it started when days and nights went to two day shifts, I cannot remember when that was exactly.

Friday nights were always the main night out before then for me.
There’s probably far more people tied up at work on a Friday than you’d realise.

I’ll be down for half2 to Meet the lads for few , let you know if it’s busy or deserted 😀
It’s too expensive nowadays so Fridays n sundays will be dead , if we were going out a Friday prob just pick somewhere out town like Rosedene or board inn

I'm Ivy House bound shortly.

I'm early 40s and go to places like those because they are the few places not selling three quarters of a pint of yellow fizzy or Double Maxim at 2c. I'm roughly 50/50 close to Sunderland and Newcastle at weekends. If I go to a similar place to these in Newcastle, there are loads more and if I cannot get in one, there's something broadly similar a two minute walk away. If I get a taxi in to Isis and it's rammed, I might get lucky and get in the Dun Cow. Then it's some walk to anything I like. That's changed now Fire Station is back open of course. But if it's chucking down with rain and The Bridges is closed, it makes it a chore. A problem I don't have elsewhere so I'll not bother if I don't know I'm guaranteed to be in somewhere. I'd like to see some micro pubs and more bars dotted around the centre and I would be out much more often.

It amazes me that nobody has opened a micropub in the town centre, there are a few spots where it could work really well.

Was busy yesterday aftnoon then seemed to die off , probably picked back up later but dropped shoulder half8

Excellent. Hope people continue to use and visit the city centre more.

I'm pretty much there every weekend.

I try and spend my money in my city 1st

I work at the point.. They're making tons from the raves, the other stuff is questionable, they had a comedy club on, sold out all going well so far, 50 year old lass comes on making jokes about raping 18 year old lads etc etc. People walking out, she's getting heckled to fuck, it's gone south very fast :D The acts after her salvaged the evening but they're very hit and miss it's safe to say :D

Cooper Rose has been put back again, they can't get that rooftop finished... Building can't pass health and safety with half a roof, I've been told they're aiming for Black Eye Friday but rooftop will still be shut

Does there tend to be much bother at the raves?

There’s nothing on there for me

That’s what I do. Normally go out on the afternoon till about 7 then do one. After that is mainly a younger crowd.

Becoming more popular to go out early doors , meet up 2-3 and then see people dropping shoulders from 7 .
Younguns don’t go into town til 10 onwards
